Six Sentence Sunday #26

Happy Six Sunday. Did you miss me last week? Well, I missed you guys. Thanks for visiting this week and I’d love to know what you think!! I’m bringing you something new today, 6 from my latest Novella BDSM WIP. It’s a sequel to the WIP I have been sharing these past many weeks. All you need to know to get started: while in Chicago for a conference, Janna gets a chance to enter a BDSM club for the first time. She’s talking with security when a man enters the club.

“You’ll need to wait here for an escort, or…good evening, Master Simon. Would you like to escort our guest?”

Her heart skipped and she pushed the soles of her feet into the ground. He’s a Master, he’d be perfect.  It’s okay if he says no, a rejection from a stranger means nothing. Nothing.

Will Master Simon escort Janna, or will she have to keep waiting? Please come back next week. Thank you so much for stopping by today!! I’d like to know what you really think of my 6. I need the advice, I’m a newbie and have much to learn. Don’t forget to check out the other Six Sunday authors. Lots of good stuff at Six Sunday and its days are now sadly numbered. I’m not crying. Try to find a new favorite today. happy hunting!

ROW80 check-in #26

Getting back on track after a few crazy days out of town is hard work. The beginning of the week I struggled to stay on top of my evil day job and my volunteer-treasurer work. Did I let the pressure drive the week or did I find a way to sail through the muck?

The pressure got to me this week, but I kept going and fell short in the same areas as always. Frustration is not welcome here, so what am I going to do? I need one week where I reach the hard to reach tasks. My priorities are going to get thrown to the wind and this is how I’ll let things settle, for this week: No writing on the new WIP until the latest PM training is complete AND I make respectable progress on the next song in the Sanjana routine. Okay, I almost fainted, but I have to do this. Yes, I need to keep writing, but I need to get this training going and I cant apply for a job teaching Nia until I have one routine in me. A plan, I should feel better, ha, ha 🙂

Motivation Jars (14-goals in all & $7.50 is up for grabs each week): 12-goals had real good progress or they’re in line for progress, but in 2 (Sanjana bars and PMP continuing education) I didn’t get it done. Wardrobe Jar gets $6.43 (total so far: $19.29) and NOT my political party of choice jar gets $1.07 (total so far: $3.21)

The Goals – week-3 results

  • Spend at least 1-hour a day with my characters– done
  • Pick a title for Voyage Novu #1 & #2- I came up with several ideas on my drive over the weekend as planed, but nothing is sticking just yet, more pondering to do here.
  • Write 3,000 words each week or 33,000 for the round- done, I added 3,005 this week!!
  • Spend time editing at least 3 times each week- 3-days and another 25-pages done. Wahoo!!
  • Send Voyage Novu #1 to 2nd beta- my beta is going to RWA and if all goes well she’ll be reading on the plane! eek 🙂
  • Finish Editing Voyage Novu #1- to be done after feedback is received from 2nd beta
  • Voyage Novu#1 Query/Synopsis: finish, polish, get 2nd opinions, finalize AND send out 1st round- progress slow and steady this week. I’ll be able to give this item more attention once the draft is off to the beta.
  • Finish first draft of Voyage Novu#2 and begin to edit- at 3k per week this goal should beginning in Mid-August
  • Finish reading current craft book and start another- another chapter in 🙂
  • Workout a minimum of 200-minutes a week and round it out with plenty of water, sleep and my calorie limit- I hit my first goal this week. BMI is down to 23.7, a year ago it was 30.2. So now what, the final goal is on, the last 5-pounds. This week I stayed on track and after a handful more weeks I’ll be in official maintenance mode.
  • Study one of the Nia 52-moves each week- Upward Block: begin in the ready position = sumo position, elbows pulled in and back, palms up and forearms hugging the sides of the body. From the ready position pull the forearm up to protect your forehead with the bony side of your forearm facing towards your forehead (protect the bone) and back into the ready position. Repeat on both sides. Benefits: improves your ability to start and stop and builds your arm strength and speed.
  • Finish the Sanjana bars and start the Opal bars (i.e. studying the song/movement structure)- the first victim again. WEEK 4 PRIORITY
  • Finish needed continuing education, enter all credits on PMI site and save my PMP certification for another 3-years- victim  number two, again. WEEK 4 PRIORITY
  • Stay on top of my co-op preschool Treasurer responsibilities- I’m on top of this one. The tuition payments are in the bank and QuickBooks and had a good meeting with the accountant on Friday. Yeah.

Back to work for me. Good grief, I hope I get to write this week, hope you do too. Have a fabulous week.

Flash Fiction #16

Thanks for stopping. Another picture…another 100 words.

Carla fell on the bed in an exhausted heap. She doubted she’d make it another day in this heat. Visions of Adam filled her mind making fire pool between her legs. The phone rang startling her from her discontent.

“Hello”

“Are you naked yet?”

“Oh, Adam, pretty much. I’m laying her thinking of you in my underwear. It’s so hot.”

“Let me help, sweetheart. Get some ice.”

He directed her to drag a cube of ice from her shoulders down to between her breasts. Her nipples stung with intensifying need. Puddles flowed drowning her in the rising tides of ecstasy.

Tantalizing Tuesday #1

Tuesdays aren’t for flashing…they’re for teasing. The rules of TT: I get to select the picture and I get 200 words to tease. Just like on Fridays, I’m joined by several very talented writers, so don’t miss the links below.

Carey met him a year ago. It was John who bumped into her that day spilling water down her shirt. She giggled replaying their conversation once more in her head.

“It’s not that bad”

“What? You can see everything.”

“Yeah.” He patted her chest with a mass of napkins.

The day melted away as they walked the beach talking and ended with their bodies exploding together on the surf.

She moved to the beach the next day hoping to find him, but never found a clue. She built herself a pleasant life here, but still no John. She sat on the bench working up the courage to move on, they only had a day after all. Tears pressed against her lids. The rain clouds opened and encouraged the release of freighting emotions.

She got up and shuffled toward her car.

“Carey!”

She turned and saw what she’d been waiting for. A quake and a half broke through her chest and pushed her legs forward. She leapt into his arms and he caught her. His body pressed deliciously into hers. He claimed her mouth and his tongue stroked hers eliciting her need.

“You’ve been right here, my sweet?”

“Waiting for you”

Hope you enjoyed my tease today!! We’ll be seeing more of these two in the weeks ahead. Don’t forget to follow the link to get to the other TT posts. Tantalizing Tuesday. Or click away on the links below.

ROW80 check-in #25

Hi Six Sunday Friends. Thanks for checking on me, but I really didn’t join in the fun this week. I’m actually out of town. I’ll be checking on your posts tomorrow though and I’ll hop back in the fun next Sunday.

On to my check-in for ROW80. What’s Row80? A round of words in 80 days is the writing challenge that knows you have a life.

Second week into the new round and goal list could have very easily been a disaster. I’ve been out of town since early Friday afternoon. So disaster could have been an understatement, because inevitably in shortened weeks a slew of tiny things pop up. So how did I do? See the list below or I’m putting my motivation jar tallies right up top from now on.

Motivation Jars (14-goals in all & $7.50 is up for grabs each week): 12-goals had real good progress or they’re in line for progress, but in 2 (Sanjana bars and PMP continuing education) I just didn’t get it done. Wardrobe Jar gets $6.43 (total so far: $12.86) and NOT my political party of choice jar gets $1.07 (total so far: $2.14<–I really don’t like this)

The Goals – week-2 results

  • Spend at least 1-hour a day with my characters– done
  • Pick a title for Voyage Novu #1 & #2- I’m still liking the series name (The Love Projects) but I want to come at the titles from a new angle, i.e. looking at the series as a whole. I’m going to put my driving time to good use this weekend and pick this one apart.
  • Write 3,000 words each week or 33,000 for the round- done, I added 3,062 this week!!
  • Spend time editing at least 3 times each week- 3-days and another 24-pages done. Wahoo!!
  • Send Voyage Novu #1 to 2nd beta- If that editing goals stays on track this will happen, eek 🙂
  • Finish Editing Voyage Novu #1- to be done after feedback is received from 2nd beta
  • Voyage Novu#1 Query/Synopsis: finish, polish, get 2nd opinions, finalize AND send out 1st round- My pattern of tweaking at the end of my edit sessions is still working well here, yeah
  • Finish first draft of Voyage Novu#2 and begin to edit- at 3k per week this goal should beginning in Mid-August
  • Finish reading current craft book and start another- another chapter in 🙂
  • Workout a minimum of 200-minutes a week and round it out with plenty of water, sleep and my calorie limit- I’m getting back on track here, yahoo. Just 0.2 pounds more and I can start working on losing my final 5-pounds.
  • Study one of the Nia 52-moves each week- Hip Bumps: practice rocking your hips while keeping your upper body agile and connected to your lower body. Benefits: toning your core, defining your waist and increase mobility along your spine.
  • Finish the Sanjana bars and start the Opal bars (i.e. studying the song/movement structure)- the first victim, no one should be surprised here. I’m having a hard time getting to this task when I have a full week. WEEK 3 PRIORITY
  • Finish needed continuing education, enter all credits on PMI site and save my PMP certification for another 3-years- victim  number two, I need to pull out a big win her next week or I’ll get way off track. WEEK 3 PRIORITY
  • Stay on top of my co-op preschool Treasurer responsibilities- I’m on top of this one, I was well prepared for the board and parent meetings this week, but I’ve got a big week coming up with the first tuition payments coming in. Joy.

Back to work for me, well as soon as I get home. Hope you have a fabulous week.

Music from Jeff

He’s back this week giving you insight on another drum he admires

“Her Song” by Brian Blade, from the album “Mama Rosa”.

You should also look for the song “After the Revival”  I couldn’t find a video link for that one, but it’s my favorite song on that record.

Brian Blade is one of my favorite drummers.  I first heard of him as a jazz player in the early 90’s.  I’ve seen him play jazz and was absolutely blown away.  He’s such a passionate player – paying tribute to the legacy of music while still having his own voice.  That’s VERY difficult to do in jazz music because the legacy is so rich.

BUT THEN, I heard him playing with Seal.  I didn’t know how versatile. Again, blown away.

AND THEN, I heard him on an Emmylou Harris (folk singer) album.

AND THEN, I heard him with Joni Mitchell.

WHAT?!

This guy can do anything and still sound like himself.  That is incredibly rare and very special when you come across it.

THEN, he decides to make an album as a singer/songwriter.  Of course, I immediately bought it and again, I am blown away. Great songs, great guitar playing, great singing (very cool sounding voice) and, of course, great drumming. I think Brian was blessed with severe talent and a wonderful soul. He is also a part of the Black Dub group I’ve sent previously. Enjoy.

Flash Fiction #15

Thanks for stopping. Another picture…another 100 words.

Anne could count on one had the number of times she has cried. Today was number 5. She believed she was sturdy, made from hard circumstances, and capable of handling anything thrown at her. This first week with Joseph sparked a new light. He cracked her open sometime yesterday and now her submission rolled out in effortless waves.

It was a simple request.

“Let me hold you.”

For the first time she heard the truth behind his words, the truth so obvious in his eyes and his touch. She collapsed in his embrace and let him in, into her heart.

Six Sentence Sunday #25

Happy Six Sunday. Thanks for visiting and I’d love to know what you think!! I’m continuing this week with another 6 from my Novella BDSM WIP. Last week: Jake & Lydia arrived in her apartment after a long day of working together for the first time. Of course they spent much of the day fantasizing about each other. Jake has tested Lydia all afternoon and keeps finding her wanting. In last week’s 6 he made a decision to act on his desire, his desire to dominate her. This week: Lydia is still across the room, her back to him. She’s just turned on the light. We start with his order.

The low growl from deep within pushed out his words. “Remove your clothes.”

Silence filled the void in the room. Nothing moved except for the nerves running through him filled with rocket fuel, which catapulted his desire.

“Don’t turn around. Remove your clothes, place your hands on the couch, and your legs… separate them.”

There you have it, his order. I think he’s made it clear what he wants. But what will Lydia do? Just because an order mirrors your fantasy doesn’t mean you’ll do it.

ROW80 check-in #24

First week working my new grand list. Am I ready to throw in the towel? 😉 No, I’m actually pretty pleased at how hard I pushed it this week. That’s not to say I could not have done better, but it’s a start.

The Goals – week-1 results

  • Spend at least 1-hour a day with my characters– done
  • Pick a title for Voyage Novu #1 & #2- I’ve picked a series title: The Love Projects and I’m tossing around the idea of She’s Mine for the title of the first book. I’m not sure.
  • Write 3,000 words each week or 33,000 for the round- done, I added 3,020 this week!!
  • Spend time editing at least 3 times each week- 24-pages done, I got a great idea from Julie Glover’s goal post and I’ve added a page goal to my edit sessions. This will help to keep me on schedule for the next goal in the list.
  • Send Voyage Novu #1 to 2nd beta- I’ve had a brief discussion with my 2nd beta and we have a rough idea when I can send her the WIP, very exciting.
  • Finish Editing Voyage Novu #1- to be done after feedback is received from 2nd beta
  • Voyage Novu#1 Query/Synopsis: finish, polish, get 2nd opinions, finalize AND send out 1st round- lots going on in this goal and first up is finishing the Query/Synopsis. This week I’ve gathered all my ideas into the two documents and reviewed some of the tips I’ve gathered along the way. I’m tweaking each as I go on the edits and the pattern seems to be working so far.
  • Finish first draft of Voyage Novu#2 and begin to edit- at 3k per week this goal should beginning in Mid-August
  • Finish reading current craft book and start another- confession time, I did not finish Plot & Structure during the break, but I did read a whole chapter this week. Amazing how much more interesting a book is if you can read more than a couple pages at a time.
  • Workout a minimum of 200-minutes a week and round it out with plenty of water, sleep and my calorie limit- my workouts slipped during break too, goodness. I didn’t get all 200-minutes this week, but I was close. Everything else was good, so close on this one. WEEK 2 PRIORITY
  • Study one of the Nia 52-moves each week- Pelvic Circles: stand in “A” stance, move your hips in a fluid motion, as if you were playing with a hula hoop. Sense the motion of the ball of your hip joints rotating in their sockets. Keep your knees soft. Play with the speed and direction of your hips.
  • Finish the Sanjana bars and start the Opal bars (i.e. studying the song/movement structure)- no new work on the bars, but I practiced teaching the 3-songs I know real well and feel much more comfortable there. I need to see progress on the bars next week WEEK 2 PRIORITY
  • Finish needed continuing education, enter all credits on PMI site and save my PMP certification for another 3-years- I’m almost finished with my first 12-hour course, score. I did work on this during break and almost finished the first course this week, but the last goal on the list took way to much time on Friday.
  • Stay on top of my co-op preschool Treasurer responsibilities- I’m on top of this one. As long as I keep plugging away I should be golden. I have a reasonable list to take care of this week before the first tuition checks are due, so it will be important to stay on top of this goal.

Motivation Jars (14-goals in all & $7.50 is up for grabs each week): 12-goals had real good progress or they’re in line for progress, but in 2 (workout minutes and Sanjana bars) I just didn’t get it done. Wardrobe Jar gets $6.43 and NOT my political party of choice jar gets $1.07

One novella WIP in edits, a second novella WIP is started (actually two WIPs are started, more about that in the next round), craft education continues and PMP continuing education in progress. Happy dance, lots done. BUT, Nia Sanjana still needs work, I need to get back to consistent workouts and I’m not in query mode yet…I’m not published yet

Back to work for me. Hope you have a fabulous week.

Links of the week #26

Wow, did that week go fast or what. Hot and fast. The only way to recover from that kind of week: relax with a good book.  So, now that you know what I’m doing today, well, for as long as I can anyways 🙂 below I have as many fabulous blogs as I was able to read this week. Music from Jeff

My hubs is a drummer, you knew that right? Okay, so his theme this week and next is…

Really great drummers who are also really great singer/songwriter/guitarists.

The first one is obvious:

“Rope” by Foo Fighters, from the album “Wasting Light”

After having seen them live together, we both know just HOW MUCH they rock.

What I really like about Dave Grohl’s approach is that he released the first album under the band name with no attention to himself.  He could have easily used his post Nirvana fame to push the project through, so to speak.  Instead, he decided to let the music do the talking.  I think that’s admirable, but I also think it was a smart move.  It gave people the chance to judge the music purely on…the music.  What a concept!  No preconceived notions or other celebrity crap – just music.

Over the years, the band has been extremely successful at taking Dave’s songs and making them their own.  I think this album is one of the best examples of this.  They all play their roles to a perfection and sound like a BAND.

That freakin’ rocked!
