Flash Fiction #25 – Passing the test

Thanks for stopping. Another picture…another 100 words.

“You have to help me with the decision, Jeremy.” She tugged on her best friend’s hand pulling him deeper into the store.

“Sure, we’ll use my three-point test.” He pushed his hands into the first mattress kneading the pillow top. “This one feels good in my hands, but after awhile it’ll feel like imitation, kind of like implants.”

“Do all your tests translate through sex?”

“Sara, nothing much matters without sex.” He climbed into the next bed.

She followed him in and ignored the nagging instinct to remain quiet, to remain just friends. “Do your tests not apply to me?”

Flash Fiction #24 – The coffee job

“I’m not going out with you, so stop asking. And give me back my coffee.”

“Why not? I’m a good looking charming guy with a good job. Let me at least feed you.”

“Cause that’s what every woman wants, to be fed?”

“I can think of a few other things women want.” He peered across the stolen coffee cup to her cleavage.

“You’re a shit, Tim.” She couldn’t help but to laugh with the guy. “It took your dirty mind six-seconds.”

“Nothing of the sort, my mind’s been in the gutter since you bent over to fetch the coffee grinder.”

Flash Fiction #23 – Slink into the silk

One way or another she would get the picture. It didn’t matter how long it took, or so she thought when she started the morning with a new getup.

“Erin, try lying down and I can get a shot of you from overhead.”

“I’m not sure—

“Erin.” Her buddy disappeared, replaced by the Master she didn’t know. “Relax, sweetheart, and let me take a stab at it.”

She slinked down into the silk that made her slip and let go of the items she’d been struggling to hold. She let it go and looked into the lens.

“That’s it, beautiful.”

Flash Fiction #22 – Something in common

She knew the day would come when he wouldn’t be there, but she didn’t want today to be the day. Each morning she watched him wake and stretch and walk deliciously from his bedroom, exposing himself along the way. She’d begun planning her mornings around his delectable derriere when she first detected him last month.

“Damn, he’s not there.” Disappointment left her slouching in her seat.

“Were you looking for me?”

His body filled her office and his voice echoed in her mind. How had he found her out?

“You’re not the only one with a pair of those, sweetheart.”

Last week he thought the retreat was a lame idea. This morning he yelled profusely at his brother for scheduling a double massage with Shelia and now she’d scared the masseuse away.

“I didn’t mean for him to leave.” She rolled her eyes. “Who’d have thought a masseuse would be so sensitive.”

“You complained about his hands.”

She sat up, apparently unconcerned with flashing her beautiful breasts. He stared unabashedly, his day was picking up.

“Shit, I’m sorry, Tony.”

“Don’t be.”

“How about you take your eyes off of my chest and come over here and work on my back.”

Flash Fiction #20 – She deserves it

“The art exhibit opens tonight.” She forced her fingers to relax their grip. She didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of seeing her nerves on edge.

“Fine, what time should I be home?”

“You don’t have to—”

“We agreed to keep up the charade. I’m not going back on my word.”

“Yes, your word.” She wanted to tell him where he could stuff his word.

The kiss they shared a week ago was forgotten and replaced with the cold neglect she’d come to expect. She never wanted him to hate her, but he did and she deserved it.

Tantalizing Tuesday #2 – The flick of a cloak

Tuesdays aren’t for flashing…they’re for teasing. The rules of TT: I select the picture and 200 words to tease.

The mist rolled through the flowers like a long lost friend. She’d never seen the meadow before, but the image kept coming to her. She’d forgotten so much in the accident last year, making her imagination a tricky thing. She’d always wanted brothers and sisters. In her vision she was the oldest of four, no five.

Her mother’s maid packed the picnic and mother encouraged them all to find the Blackstonia before they closed for the day. She and Georgette chased each other to their favorite open meadow, half tripping and full on giggling along the way. They came to a full halted stop at the edge of the plane. The mist was heavier here, it kissed your skin like a whisper. Beyond the tree, Susanna searched. Would he come today? Would she see the man that had quickly and quietly come to brighten her mornings and occupy her mind? She squinted and made out a flick of his cloak.

“He’s here”

“Who’s here?”

“What?” She shook her head from the disorienting vision. “Oh. Hi, Father. I was just breathing life into my imagination again.”

“Susanna, who’s here?”

She thought of the cloaked man, if only it could be him.

Hope you enjoyed my tease today!! This is the beginning of a story I’ve been wanting to write for some time. Don’t forget to visit the other teasers at Tantalizing Tuesday. Or click away on the links below.

Flash Fiction #19 – His Brother’s Girl

Thanks for stopping. Another picture…another 100 words.

“Hey, Chad, are you busy?”

“No, come in.”

She collapsed in a sniffling heap on his patient chair. He’d hoped, but hadn’t expected her to come to him. His rotten scoundrel of a brother couldn’t keep it in his pants, not even for this exquisite creature. He wanted to wrap his arms around her, give her his strength, and promise she’d find someone better.

He felt guilty for using his career to get close to her and worse because he knew what his brother had been up to, but he couldn’t stand by and watch her get hurt, not anymore.

Flash Fiction #18

Thanks for stopping. Another picture…another 100 words.

Jeremy clung to her leg with unnecessary force. The last dress rehearsal went better than expected with their emotions running on high.

Could she forgive him?

Cheating on her with some girl from the chorus was bad enough, but to tell her the morning before they had to perform together for two weeks was unforgivable.

He risked her career, unacceptable.

She wanted to believe the threat to her performance drove her ire, but the tick in her heart forced her to face the lie. She trusted him, her first mistake. No longer would she rent her heart out for free.

Hope you enjoyed my flash today!!

Flash Fiction #17

Thanks for stopping. Another picture…another 100 words.

He entered the room and found Jessie dead to the world in the middle of the show room floor. The war paint across her eyes marked her as a yet to be acknowledged artist on the ship. Her devotion to the craft was unheard of, most women gave up after the first couple trials. Not many had the devotion necessary to stick with it. At times he thought her reckless, but he could no longer deny his desire to control her wild side. He tugged on the loose ribbon. She uncoiled herself like a delicate flower waking in the morning.
