Shaken and Stirred with a splash of dirty.

She’s not the one he wants…

Drew McKenna is obsessed with the woman who saved his family’s business. She’s the last woman he should want, but his dreams are flooded with the sultry, sexy woman who gets under his skin. He’d not prepared to end their lengthy riff just so he can give into his desire to have the gorgeous woman under him.

But she is the one he needs…

Glory Pierce gave up on Drew the second he flung vicious insults her way. The harder she tries to forget how deep those scars run, however, the more he invades her thoughts. When tragedy strikes, Glory is forced to put aside her anger and work with the man she despises. But as they mix business with pleasure, the heat between them reaches fever pitch, secrets are revealed, and passions are stirred up in ways neither of them can ignore.

Excerpt:

Glory exited her father’s room and leaned against the wall. Drawing in deep breaths, she closed her eyes and kept the tears at bay. It was so strange to see the strongest man she knew so vulnerable. Her father worked day in and day out with little time off. It was hard to equate him to the man in that room. Though Dr. Cooper had tried to sound optimistic, her gut told her otherwise. Her father might not make it and she had to reconcile herself to that fate.

She adjusted her duffle bag on her shoulder and headed toward the front exit. There was nothing for her do tonight and sleep was her best recourse. The next few days would be full of tasks she wasn’t ready to handle. But he’d left her in charge—for whatever reason—and she’d do everything possible to handle his affairs until he recovered. And she had to hope that he’d recover. But she didn’t like the thought that she could screw something up and he’d have to fix later.

Sadness and panic churned in her stomach at the possibility of losing him and what she’d have to face with the family either way. Most of the Pierce family thrived on drama and conflict. She’d escaped it when her folks divorced, but growing up, she’d still spent as much time with her father as he allowed. They didn’t always have the best relationship, due to the chaos Freddie and Tanya preferred to create whenever she was around, but she loved him. And she never questioned his love for her.

Her father had always been transparent in his views of her. He’d never had faith in her to carry on the tradition of the men in her family to become mayor, but he’d done his best she supposed. Every first-born child of the last five generations was male and she was an anomaly by the way her family carried on. And since they held the mayor occupancy in town, no one ever let her forget that she’d broken the lineage and would never carry on that importance. It wasn’t a shoe-in whenever there was an election, but for generations, her family held the most power in town. It saddened her that Freddie was the only one left now to task the job to. And his troublemaker ways and disregard for anyone but himself and his mother, did not go unnoticed. Most of the town prayed there’d be another person to go against Freddie if her father was no longer able to hold his post. There wasn’t much to be happy about with that scenario.

As she stepped outside, she breathed in deeply, filling her lungs with fresh air, and rolled her shoulders to relieve the tension. As always, her stepmother and the gossipmongers of her family never ceased to stress her out. She avoided every family gathering for the sake of her sanity, which always irritated her father. But, it was her only salvation against the nosey-nellies who never kept their noses out of her business.

“How’s your dad doing?”

Her heart rate kicked up a few notches. The last thing she needed was more of Drew McKenna tonight, dammit. Raw from the long-buried emotions about her father, having him around could only cause more chaos. And the usual heartache.

But damn if he wasn’t hell-to-the-oh-my-god sexy as he leaned against his Harley. Arms crossed, biceps bulged beneath the sleeves of his t-shirt tucked into the waistband of his blue jeans. It appeared multiple finger swipes pushed his hair back to maintain the untamable ringlets that fell over his forehead and curled around his ears. Those sexy strands were one of the best things she loved most.

Love? Ugh, as if, lady. Speak for yourself.

Glory shoved the nagging voice away, unwilling to handle such nonsense tonight.

“Why are you still here?”

He shrugged. “Thought I’d offer you a ride home.”

“I don’t need your charity, Drew. Since when do you care what I do?” As soon as the words left her mouth, she wanted to eat them back again. Like a bull poked, his nostrils flared as usual and reminded her that their tumultuous but civil relationship always ended in an argument. And too much resentment.

“Let’s not do this again.” Drew stood, and waved a hand at his back seat. “You’ve had a long night, you’re worried for your old man, and I’m too damn exhausted to go toe-to-toe with you, Glory. For once, please shut up. Can we put aside whatever keeps us at one another’s throat for one night?”

Surprised, her jaw fell open and her eyes widened. Had Drew McKenna sounded reasonable and mature? A foreign impression in the years she’d known him, but she supposed he had a point. Over a decade of combating with him was now tiresome. How she’d allowed it to go on for so long was ridiculous, but wearing her coat of armor against him was her only defense.

“Are you coming or not?” He sat astride the bike, a second helmet in his hand and extended toward her.

“I’m only doing this because my car is in the shop and too tired to wait for a cab. You better not get me killed on this contraption, McKenna. I swear, I’ll haunt your ass forever if you do.” Glory grabbed the helmet and placed it on her head, then adjusted the strap beneath her chin. She moved closer, made sure her duffle bag was over both shoulders was tight, and lifted one leg over the seat.

“You haunt me now, woman, but don’t worry, you’re safe with me.” The engine cut out many of his words and Glory wasn’t sure what he meant about haunting him, but she’d had to have heard him wrong. Her gut instincts knew better than to trust him.

“Ready?” he glanced back at her.

After a hard swallow, she set her hands at his waist. Her body shivered as his warmth curled around her fingers.

“You have to hold on tighter than that, doll.” Drew grabbed both her wrists and dragged her forward until her chin hit his back. She crossed her arms at the front of his waist and held on.

The bike vibrated beneath her as he gunned the engine and roared through the parking lot and into the streets.

Her nipples tightened beneath her bra as she rested against his hot back and his enjoyable rich aroma of sandalwood wafted into her nose. Glory leaned a cheek on his shoulder, closed her eyes and blocked out the buildings rushing by. His potent scent reminded her of one night, so long ago.

A memory that never stopped breaking her heart. No matter how much she tried, it played in her head over and over, when she least expected it and left her vulnerable and aching. With her forehead on his back, the vibration of the machine beneath her ass pulsed through her. Shit. A reminder of how long it had been since she’d been with a man was the last thing she needed. Though her dating life sucked and there had been a couple men in her life over the last decade, she’d hoped the heartbreaking memories would fade quickly. But the more she wished to forget the past, the less and less pleasure she found in dating because she couldn’t erase the memories.

During the nights at Controlled Iris—as she succumbed to her voyeuristic tendencies that appeased her well enough—never stopped her from going back again and again. The small solace of pleasure she sought there kept her sane with the unattended needs and hunger coursing through her often. One exciting night a decade ago had ruined her for life. She wanted the same thrill of pleasure and the powerful delirious ecstasy again. But it was unattainable.

He was unattainable.

Nothing compared to that one night. And while Controlled Iris fed a few of her baser needs and fetishes, it wasn’t enough. Though it wasn’t a place of orgies or bondage or chains and whips, Controlled Iris opened their doors for those who loved to watch, but not engage. Through glass windows or up on balconies looking into each room, those who entered could witness the carnal appetites of others. Patrons weren’t allowed to join in the sex, only to witness the bliss of voyeurism and the thrill of being a peeping Tom—or Thomasina in her case.

Though she had no trouble getting herself off, Controlled Iris pushed her harder and drove her faster to the edge of pleasure for when she returned home. Role playing and the uninhibited prowess of each person, men and women, showed her more about sex than she’d ever thought possible. One night of pleasure did not make her an expert in any way, and CI filled her curiosity.

She lifted her head when the bike came to a halt. So lost in her thoughts, she’d missed the short ride home. Drew shut off the engine. He slid off the bike, undid the helmet and handed it to him. He scooted back and got off.

“No need to stick around.”

“Not even a cup of coffee to repay me for going out of my way?”

Glory rolled her eyes and started up the porch steps. “You don’t drink coffee and I didn’t ask for the ride, you offered. Good night, Drew.” As if fire chased her, she hustled to her front door and stuck the key in the lock.

“We should talk, Glory,” his voice filled her left ear, and startled her. She whipped around, and found herself pressed against the door. Shit. She didn’t need to get trapped by him tonight.

“You’re too close. Back off. And we have nothing to discuss.” Body quivering from his closeness, she gazed up into his dark eyes. Lightheaded, Glory inhaled a shaky breath deep into her lungs. How evil was it to tempt her with such deliciousness when her heart and soul already ached from ripping emotions?

“Haven’t we done this Mr. and Mrs. Smith thing long enough?”

“Really, dude?” she scoffed. “That’s what you compare us to? Two gun-wielding married assassins who lie to one another? When have I ever lied to you?” Glory didn’t know if the comparison was accurate or not. They weren’t married, and they weren’t assassins either, but the sexual chemistry and tension between the Smith duo was always tumultuous and charged with chaos. She supposed there was justification for that comparison.

Drew crowded in on her, and she lifted her hands to his chest. Her knees shook as the heat of his skin beneath his shirt warmed her palms. The motherfucker didn’t play fair.

“I’m not the only one who gets turned on whenever we’re around each other. And you can’t deny it.”

Coffee Breaks and Surprises! Celebrating @KaceyHammell’s new release, Guarding His Anchor. #Suspense #ERom

Kacey: Good morning everyone. Thank you to, SJ, for letting us drop by her blog. I actually had an appointment on the day I stopped by her place and hated to leave. But I had arranged a bit of a surprise for SJ that she didn’t expect. I’d also informed my guest to behave, but well, here’s what happened …

S.J.: My sweet Kacey gives the BEST surprises. 😀 *blushes* Hope you enjoy this post as much as I have.

❤ ❤ ❤

“It’s been a crazy, hectic week. A new release always zaps some energy but in a good way,” Kacey confides in her pal, SJ.  Lifting the coffee mug, she finishes the last of the deliciousness then sets it down on the coffee table. She really loved sitting in the quite family room with her dear friend. “I really hate to run, SJ, but I have an appointment with Son 1, and it couldn’t be avoided.”

“Oh no, our visit wasn’t long enough. I hate to see you go. But kids come first. Hope you get some writing in soon.”

Kacey leans over and gives SJ a warm hug. “I do too. So many heroes screaming at me right now. But have to hit that word count. And I have a surprise for you by the way.”

“You sent me a copy of Guarding His Anchor, what more do I need?” SJ smiles.

“Well, I thought I’d surprise you.” Kacey giggles at the knock on the door. SJ starts to get up. “Nope. Sit. You’re surprise is on the way, and knows the way down the hall. Trust me, you’ll love this surprise.

“Excuse me, don’t you have somewhere to be, woman?” SJ’s gasp fills the room as Kacey rushes across the room and into Frank Shaw’s arms. “You’re such an oaf sometimes, Frank. But I’ve missed you. And you’re right, in this instance. I’ll see you all later.” She drops a kiss on SJ’s shocked face, lays a smooch on Frank’s lips, then hugs Charlie Weber as she enters the room. “See you all soon. Frank, be good.”

“I always am, darling.” Frank stalks around to the front of the sofa, and pulls SJ into his arms. He buries his face in her neck and breathes in her scent. “Hey, hon, how are you?” He pulls back, and cups her face in his hands. “You look tired.”

SJ cheeks flush. “I’m fine, thanks. Can I get either of you a cup of coffee?”

“I’m fine, SJ.” Charlie gives her a side hug, then sits in the rocking chair.

“Nah, I’m good. Don’t wait on us, honey. Here, sit down,” Frank orders and tugs SJ down beside him on the sofa.”

“It’s been a while,” Charlie comments. “How are things? How are those darling boys of yours?”

“They’re doing great. Growing like bad weeds.” SJ chuckles, flustered as Frank toys with her fingers. “Umm, it’s great to see you both. How are things at the Vixen Club, and the security business?”

Frank inches closer to SJ and places an arm over her shoulder. “Pretty good. No complaints. Things are still a bit rocky, not knowing what’s going on with Sean and Marc.”

SJ’s mouth falls open. “Oh no! Have you heard anything at all, Charlie?”

Charlie shakes her head. “I hope to soon.” Sadness fills Charlie’s eyes. “It’s been weeks.”

“It’ll be okay, babe. They know what they’re doing. Trust me.” Charlie nods and gives him a sweet smile. That’s his Charlotte, always strong. “Now, SJ, tell me how much you’ve missed me?” A grin splits across his lips.

Charlie groans. “Oh, Lord. Really, Frank. I’m sitting right here.”
“Hmm. Yes, I know and I love you, of course, Charlotte. But you know SJ was the first to read our story. We kinda have this thing between us too. But I am totally devoted to you, Charlotte.” Frank winks at SJ, and cradles her in closer against his side.

SJ snuggles in. Ahh, yes, his ladies sure do know how much he loves to hold them.
“Don’t worry, Charlie. I know how much he loves you. He’s a terrible flirt, that’s all. Not that I mind.” SJ chuckles.

“And you’re drop-dead gorgeous, hon. Like a little pixie with a dancer’s spirit. I love that about you.”

A blush spreads across SJ’s cheeks. “Thank you.”

“And as much as I want to stay and chill with ya, and cuddle some more,” Frank lays a kiss on the top of SJ’s head. “I am under strict orders from Kacey. She says you have a book to write?”

SJ pouts. “She’s a tattletale. You don’t need to go yet. I’m enjoying this too much.”

“Now, hon, don’t get me in trouble with our Kacey. She’ll skin me a live in the 3rd book to my series. But listen, I know it’s difficult to find another hero like me, but I know you can do it.” Frank encourages.

Charlie and SJ both laugh.

“I’ll be sure to let me heroes know they’ve met their match with you, Frank.”

“You do that,” he mumbles in her ear, then leans forward and places a light kiss on SJ’s lips. “Promise me you’ll get some writing in today? You’ll do that. For me, won’t you?” Frank stands and wraps his arms around her waist, his hands pressing against the small of her back.

“You don’t fight fair, mister. But, yes, I promise.”

“Good.” He draws her into his embrace once more, squeezing tight and enjoys the rapid heartbeat against his chest. If I wasn’t already taken, I’d fall head over heels for this little pixie. “Now, and I do hate to go, but you have work to do and Charlotte needs to check on the club. I’ll be back soon.”

“See you soon, SJ. We’re always here for you.” Charlie hauls SJ in for a tight hug, then follows Frank to the door.

Frank turns back and gazes at SJ, blows her a kiss, then disappears.

I’ll see her again very soon.

Excerpt © Kacey Hammell, 2017

Frank braced his arms on the vanity in the adjoining bathroom of Charlotte’s room and stared at his reflection in the mirror.

Sex with her always set his world on edge while filling him with a peace he found nowhere else. The soothing calm in his soul and the gut-wrenching Achilles heel he didn’t know what to do with. Except wrap her up in his arms, fuck her as though it were the last time, and hang on for wild ride. There was no way to exorcise himself from the hold she had on him. And he’d tried countless times to no avail.

He turned on the cold water, cupped some in his hands, and splashed it on his face. It did little to cool him. He’d left her bed, needing time to assimilate his thoughts before giving into the urge to haul her in his arms, bury his face in her neck, and never let go. Frank wasn’t a man to settle down. With the father he’d had growing up, he refused to take the chance he’d turn out like him. No way. No how. But the desire to say fuck it and grab a future with Charlotte crossed his mind often. More times than he cared to admit.

Eyes closed, his head heavy on his shoulders, he thought of teeny angels running around the yard, mirroring Charlotte’s image. She’d have beautiful, blue-eyed babies. But not with him. He carried too much baggage, and if he didn’t handle Sean’s case right, Charlotte would never forgive him.

“You look like a man with too much on his mind.”

He startled as she wrapped her arms around him. His gaze followed her fingers as they slid along the cross-and-anchor tattoo on his right bicep. When Victoria had first gone missing, he’d gotten the tat after a long drinking binge when the helplessness to find her had almost suffocated him. But he wasn’t so inebriated to get something stupid. The Family, Country, Loyalty, circling the cross and anchor had come from the heart. Those three words symbolized what mattered most to him.

Charlotte leaned in. He savored her naked flesh against his. His heart rate eased but his dick twitched. He lifted his head, grinning, and gazed at her in the mirror. “Couldn’t sleep. I didn’t want to wake you.”

“We didn’t make your wound worst, did we?” She frowned, her palms sliding from his chest to his navel, electrifying him from head to toe.

“No. It’s fine.”

“Good. And you know…” She grinned, her hand lowering and wrapping around his very awake cock. “I don’t mind losing sleep for a good reason.” Charlotte squeezed him tight.

That smoldering gaze of hers he loved so well held his as she pumped him over and over. He stared into the sea-colored oasis, mesmerized by the fire reflecting there. So open and honest, she never held back from him during these moments. A passionate, stunning goddess, Charlotte’s magnificence shone through.

What he wouldn’t give to lock the doors and keep her hidden away forever. Too bad it wasn’t that easy.

“You’re thinking too much again.” She smiled, her eyes twinkling, then turned him around and walked backward, taking him with her. “Step in my office. I get many of my best ideas in here.”

Charlotte opened a frosted glass door to the shower and stepped in, and he followed. Frank’s eyes widened, awed by the cornered twelve-by-ten paradise. She pressed buttons on a touch screen within the gray, tiled wall in the far corner.

The sanctuary burst with the noise of water rushing from the shower head and the fifteen to twenty jets along the walls.

“Jesus, woman,” he gasped, warm water hitting him from every direction.

His lady laughed. “I’d never leave if I didn’t have to.” With a flick of her head, she shoved back her wet hair and tipped her head beneath the spray. Fascinated, Frank stared at her as the water sluiced over her sexy curves.

“Gorgeous. I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Chapter One

“Are you sure you’re okay doing this? It’s a lot to ask. You haven’t done this since college.” Lark’s best friend and business partner, Eli, sounded tense on the other end of the phone.

Annoyed, Lark sighed. She’d already agreed to his request, and they’d talked it to death. “Of course I’m sure. Everything’s great. I’ll be at your office tomorrow afternoon around three.”

“You know this is for fun. Just a bit of payback for Aaron.”

“Yeah, yeah. I got it.”

Lark strolled to her bedroom closet, eager to see a few of her favorite things. She slid the accordion door open, anchored her phone between her cheek and shoulder, and reached behind a wad of hanging clothes to retrieve a plastic garment bag.

As she unzipped it, she smiled at the exquisite silk and leather. She hadn’t worn the more risqué skirts and tops in her closet for a couple years. Not since her last boyfriend, who hadn’t appreciated the adventure in their sex life. But she loved wearing leather or spandex. The material slid along her skin, bolstering her confidence and sexiness. Her heart rate raced from zero to sixty in anticipation. Lark shivered, hit the speaker button on her cell phone, and then dropped it on the nightstand.

“Aaron won’t know what hit him. He’ll definitely understand the meaning of payback’s a bitch when I’m through with him.” Lark laid four outfits on the bed and pondered them.

Red, blue, and two black mega-short skirts with silk, midriff-baring halter tops—but which was best for a fun prank?

“Just don’t hurt him.” Eli’s gruff voice hinted at concern for his longtime friend, who was about to be punked.

“Don’t worry. I’ll treat him like my Chevy Impala, and shift him gentle.”

They both laughed.

She lifted the red set. Perfect. Lark got on her knees beside the bed to look underneath and reached in as far as possible. Once she touched the tops of the matching red stiletto knee-high boots, she grinned. This outfit topped off with her vibrant red wig would be the icing on the cake. Yes. She yanked the heels free from their hiding place.

“There’s nothing to worry about. You go do your business with Fairfax Motors and land us a new sponsor, and I’ll take care of your good friend,” she said.

“Aaron’s mentioned financially backing us, too. That’d be great for us.”

Lark sat on the side of the bed. “Great. We won’t turn away money. But—” she frowned. “You’re not pimping me out to score some green, are you?”

“What? Jesus, Lark,” Eli shouted over the line. “I’d never do that and you know it. What do you take me for? We’re business partners, for fuck’s sake, and have been friends even longer than that! Hell, you’re the top female racecar driver anywhere. I’m not biased either. Besides, I’m not a lame chump, ya know.”

She laughed. “Okay. Okay. Stop groveling, you big baby. I hear ya. Go make us some moolah. I need to get pretty for tomorrow.”

“I’ll call you around five to tell you how he reacted to the prank. And thanks, babe. You’re the best. I should be finished my meeting with Fairfax by then. I’ll be miles across town or I’d ask you to dinner.” Eli chuckled. “I should have set up a videotape to see Aaron’s face.”

“No freaking way, buddy.” She tossed her jeans and underwear into the hamper in the corner. “I’ll give you every delicious detail. Gotta run. Ciao.”

“Later.”

She ended the call, then grabbed her robe from where it hung on the bedpost and strode into the bathroom.

Lark loved this room. The white walls and floor tile sparkled in the sunlight shining from the skylight she’d had installed after moving in. It was her sanctuary—her getaway from the dust and sweat from the track, and the demands on her time—and where she did her best thinking. Plus, racing at full throttle almost every day made her shoulders tight and rigid, and she really needed to soak the tension away.

Her seventy-two-inch claw-foot bathtub had been the final nail in the coffin in her decision to buy this house. Some days she lived in her tub.

Lark set her belongings on the vanity and turned the taps to fill the deep, cast-iron oval tub. She turned and shed her favorite “Race Car Drivers Like It in Overdrive” t-shirt and sweats that Eli had bought her last year for her birthday.

She bunched her hair up and back with her fingers, tugged the long tresses into a ponytail, and then peeled off her bra and panties.

Pleased with the way the day had gone, Lark smiled. She’d accomplished the second win she needed to advance to the next round of competition. Excitement for tomorrow filled her. She and Eli always had a blast; they shared a twisted sense of humor. Pulling one over on his best friend was going to be a lot of fun: Lark was going to deliver a simple bump-and-grind lap dance that had him sweating. It’d serve Aaron right for pushing some dude on Eli six months ago, trying to prove Eli was gay. She wanted to avenge her best friend, who hadn’t yet admitted his sexuality. They’d touched on the subject a few times, but he’d adamantly refused to confirm. She’d never pushed Eli into admitting what she suspected was the truth. And the realization that Aaron had tried to force Eli into something he wasn’t ready for irked her.

Prank or not, she loved putting on her shit-kicker boots, dressing to kill, and putting on a good show.

Teaching someone a lesson or two added to the thrill of dancing sexy again and pulling off this prank. When she finished with Aaron, all he’d see was her taillights as she left him teased and confused.

Paybacks were such a bitch.

Excerpt:

Leanne finished tying the strap of her bikini top, stomach rioting with butterflies, a permanent grin on her face.

Oh, you besotted fool. Chill the fuck out.

In the bathroom mirror, she scrutinized the red bikini and the small stretch marks across her tummy that she still loved because they reminded her of Beau. She cringed at the darker and more prevalent marks across her hips and over her ass. Not the perfect markings a man might want his lover to have.

What the hell. Jay hadn’t minded them last night, and she didn’t want to dwell on them now. He’d promised lighthearted fun and having a good time. Those were two things she needed in her life right now. Thoughts of tomorrow, a week away or six months down the road, weren’t to be discussed or pondered. The here and now was what mattered.

And what woman in their right mind wouldn’t love to have one of the hottest and sexiest models on her arm wherever she went? Leanne laughed, a foreign sound to her, but happiness bloomed inside her.

After admiring herself once more, she turned the doorknob and strode into the living room. Jay’s eyes lit up seeing her. Her breath caught in her throat as his gaze darkened and heat arced its way through the air, surrounding her. Body tingling, she lifted the sundress in her hands and drew it over her head. While she didn’t mind his eyes following her, or lounging on a beach, there was no way she’d stroll through the hotel on full display for everyone to see.

“Damn, had to cover that glorious skin, didn’t you?” Jay wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her lips.

“The hotel guests won’t want to see me half-naked, thank you very much.” She grinned up at him, her fingers brushing his chin. “As much as I love you looking at me, I’m not that adventurous.”

“Hm.” He hauled her in tight. So tight, the hardness in his shorts poked against her. She smiled, thrilled she had such an effect on him. “Yes. Good idea. But my reasons are selfish. I don’t want other men setting eyes on your hot bod.” He slid his hands down her spine and cupped her ass. “I claim it as all mine.”

She kissed his chin, loving the fun and his sexy words, then stepped back. “Well, a man has never claimed me like that. I kinda love it.” She winked, grabbed her shoulder bag off the hook, and strode to the door.

Jay followed close behind. He slung an arm over her shoulder as they walked to the elevator and kissed her cheek. “I need to stop in my room, change, and grab beach stuff.”

Leanne pressed the down button and nodded. “Why don’t I meet you in the lobby? I’d like to grab water and snacks, unless you need a huge breakfast? Or a few snacks from the kitchen?”

He led her into the elevator when the doors opened and pressed the button for the third floor. “Sounds great. I shouldn’t be long. Just make sure you’re waiting for me, woman.”

Leanne snickered as he backed her into the wall and crowded against her. Her nipples tightened behind her bathing suit, and it almost hurt to breathe. It was as if her body were on fire, stoked and raring to go, and his touch was nearly too much while it soothed her deep.

“I’ll definitely be waiting for you,” she said breathlessly.

Jay groaned and lowered his head to claim her lips. She gripped his biceps as he took her into the decadent abyss of his taste and passion. As though they’d never spent last night making love, her body strained against his; she was more than eager to be with him again. The image of her climbing his body with her legs, settling around his hips, invaded her thoughts.

Leanne clutched his shirt in her fists, desperate to keep him this close as he swirled his tongue inside her mouth, giving all his passion to her. The walls of her pussy clenched. Maybe they should go back to her room for a few hours. Urgency filled her and made her want to sate herself in everything he had to give. Who was she kidding? Even a few hours wouldn’t be enough to satisfy her.

He lifted his head, his breathing deep as he laid his forehead against the wall beside hers. “Jesus, woman, you’re going to fucking kill me. My cock’s so hard, I swear these shorts just grew two sizes too small.”

As if to convince her, his hips shifted, and the length of his dick was very noticeable.

The ding of the elevator rang loud in her ears, and Jay drew away.

He opened both arms, holding the doors apart. His lips red and swollen, he was mussed like a man well loved. Leanne grinned at him.

“Don’t look so pleased with yourself.”

She winked and glanced down at the tent in front of his shorts, then licked her lips.

SJ’s Review!

What an adventure! It’s intense, romantic, page turning fun. Isabella is the type of heroine I love to read, so tough, so capable, so in control. But she can’t control how deep she’s falling for Brady. Swoon! Their scenes are hot.

The suspense is intense in this one. It’s powerful and the end, especially with the bonus short story, is the perfect happy ending.

Kacey Hammell you are amazing. Loved it! 5 stars! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

Excerpt, Kacey Hammell, © 2016

He scooped up the bowl of Peanut M&Ms she loved so much, and tucked it under his right forearm. He sauntered down the hallway to her bedroom. As he looked into the living area, he spotted the framed photo of her mother on top of the TV.
With a quick glance down the hallway, he considered how long he had before she came looking for him. He set the drinks and bowl on the hallway table by the phone, and headed toward the TV.
He picked up the photo of Stacey Knowles; he couldn’t help notice the resemblance between mother and daughter. Both carried the trait of the wild and untamable red hair, the sassy grin, and the sparkling blue eyes. The only real difference between the two women was Isabella had dimples on both cheeks and her mother had none.
Unbidden and out of nowhere, a thought occurred to him.
This is probably what Bella will look like in five to ten years. The same wrinkles–crow’s feet around the eyes and laugh lines around the mouth. Wonder if her eyes will sparkle like that after she has children?
Feeling a sense of fright over his thoughts, Brady set the picture back on the TV. The thought of her older and a mother scared the hell out of him. Those were images he wasn’t going to ponder. What he had with her was going smoothly and nothing had changed for him. He still didn’t want commitment or a full-time relationship with anyone, even her.
Then why is she the only babe you’ve dated in nearly three months, bub?
Closing his eyes, trying to clear the wayward thoughts now plaguing him, Brady heard Isabella calling him.
“Where did you go, to the springs to get the water, Jacobs? Dying of thirst here!”
Laughing, Brady headed back to the hallway. He picked up the bowl and glasses and hollered, “I’m coming, I’m coming. So impatient, baby.” His voice died away as he walked over the threshold of her bedroom and came to a standstill.
Amid the mountain of white sheets and comforter haphazardly spread out from their sexual romp, Bella sat with her back to him, staring out the window. She looked like a goddess among the clouds. What she saw and what she was thinking he didn’t speculate. He couldn’t. The vision of her stole his thoughts, and his breath. Transfixed by the beauty of her golden skin, tanned from exposure to the sun, and her auburn-red mane hanging down her back in a thick, tumbled mass, his heart felt the familiar pinch her nearness caused.
He’d dated many beautiful women in his time but Bella, for all her toughness, seemed more beautiful and fragile to him when she was like this. When no one was watching, she would get the look of a scared, lost child. Her mask fell away.
She was stunning and confused the hell out of him when he caught her unaware as he did now. He wanted to take away her worries and fear. He wanted to protect her and take away her pain. He’d do anything for her.

Reviews:

Fighting for Honor may be a first for Kacey Hammell in a new genre, but within the pages, Kacey’s delectable story telling is on full display…a quick read that will leave you on the edge of your seat…Whether or not you’re a fan of shifter book won’t matter, because you’ll be too engrossed in this riveting story.” 5 Stars from Liz, Goodreads

Excerpt © Kacey Hammell, 2015

Dominic closed the front door of his old cabin quietly behind him. The urge to run crowded him, tormenting him to let loose and give into the call of the wildness of being home. He needed some time to himself before he met up with his contact in an hour.

He was confident in the fact that he could bring down his cousin and those on his side and repair the damage to the pride before anything further was lost.

Shedding his sweats and t-shirt, he slipped out of his sandals and let the change overtake him.

His muscles stretched and elongated, pulling his flesh taut and realigning his physique. On all fours, he lifted his nose to the air and darted his eyes across his surroundings. He’d always been grateful for his Panther ancestry. His vision alone was something he coveted. With silver eyes, he had the ability to see through the darkness in the dead of night, as if he held a lantern. His father told him many times that having that unique color was something only the most powerful of panthers possessed.

Taking off at a run, he re-familiarized himself with his favorite trail leading to the waterfall where he’d spent much of his childhood. The serenity and secluded area had always called to him, drawing him in and giving him the best place possible to contemplate his future.

If there was any one place in the valley he’d missed the most, it was the falls, and the memories there.

His awkward first kiss.

With Honor.

Clumsily losing his virginity.

With Honor.

Crying over the death of his father.

With Honor holding him.

Darting faster and harder, his paws barely touching the ground, he pushed away the memories. He’d missed so much over the last five years. And she was at the top of his list.

How she’d fallen into his cousin’s hands… well, he had himself to blame.

Stopping at the clearing, breathing hard, he trotted to the edge of the falls and stuck his snout in. Replenishing himself with the cold water, his ears twitched as he listened for anyone nearby.

Gulping down a last swallow, he strode to a clear spot in the cool grass, lay flat on his belly and let the quiet of the night draw him into its solitude. He couldn’t believe he hadn’t returned just for this. Too many years had flown by.

A twig snapped to his left, capturing his attention. Tilting his head, he bided his time before letting the intruder know he was there. He was lucky his black fur would cloak him. He blended well and had destroyed many enemies years ago with patience and fortitude once he was ready to pounce.

Hidden by the tree above him, his heart picked up speed as the most beautiful creature in the world made her way to the same falls he’d just quenched his thirst at.

She made his mouth water and the animal inside him took notice.

New Release! Stirring Up Dirty by Kacey Hammell #Review #5stars

I had the pleasure of reading this story before it was released. I instantly fell in love with these characters. My first impression was that Candy was a hard girl to resist and then I met Eric. Yow! Candy had met her match. I love reading that dynamic. They pushed and pulled in the dirtiest of ways. Kacey has crafted a story here that will pull you in and won’t let go even after you’ve read the last page. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the Stirred by Love Series.

Shaken and Stirred with a splash of dirty.

Candy Wilson arrives in St. Albert with one mission—to sign the next young, hot model to her modeling agency. She has no time for distractions and isn’t prepared for bartender Eric McKenna—the brother of her young client-to-be, Melissa. Eric challenges her on all counts, irritates her daily, and heats her body to boiling temperatures with just one touch. He’s hard to ignore and impossible to resist.

Eric McKenna will be damned if his baby sister signs any contracts with Candy Wilson. No way in hell will he allow anyone to whisk Melissa off to a foreign country and lead her on a path that’s not right for her. And yet Candy pushes him further than he’s ever been before and drives him crazy. Eric can’t control his need for her or the desire to engage with her … on so many levels.

Excerpt © Kacey Hammell, 2015

There was no way she’d tell Melissa she had the hots for her oldest brother. “All is good. Is there anything I can help you with, though? I waited tables once. A lot of years ago, but I’d be happy to help.” Besides, it would get her mind off the hot-blooded male behind the bar who made her want to hop over it and take him right there. A full room of customers or not.

“No. Absolutely not. I didn’t ask you to meet me here so I could put you to work.” Melissa glanced over her shoulder when one of the customers yelled for her and raised one finger. She turned back to Candy. “Maybe we should meet tomorrow?”

Candy nodded. “Sounds good. Come by my hotel, okay? But for now,” she slid from the booth, “put me to work. What can I do?”

Melissa stood and hugged her, then pointed to the corner. “Well, I’m behind in getting out more nuts. The bowls on the bar and tables need refilling. I have enough to get some done now, but we’ll be closing in an hour and will need more. If you don’t mind, could you grab some?”

“Not at all.”

“Thank you so much. They’re on the very back wall, third shelf from the bottom.” Another customer hollered for Melissa’s attention. “Thanks again,” she said before hurrying off.

The girl was meant for bigger and better. Not that there was anything wrong with working hard for a living, but her long and lean figure, her regal neckline and great posture would be better served on a runway or in a magazine than hustling from table to table.

She strode across the room to the side door Melissa had directed her to. The door was ajar, held open with a small wooden crate. She pushed the crate inside and entered, shutting the door behind her.

“Damn it. Who let the door close? Drew, fuck, you know better.” The masculine voice from somewhere in the back startled her. Thankfully she recognized the voice or she’d have been screaming bloody murder about being locked in a room with a stranger.

“Sorry, Eric. It’s Candy. I closed the door.” She moved further into the room and around one large utility shelving unit.

“Christ, what the hell are you doing in here?”

She found him near the back wall, piling boxes of what looked like the nuts she had to find on a small cart.

“I was giving Melissa a hand.” She pointed at the item in his hand. “I was going to take them out for her, for after closing, and give her a hand.”

He snorted, set down the case and reached for another one. “I don’t think a woman like you would be into this type of work. Don’t want you breaking a nail or anything like that.”

“Oh shut up, dickhead. You’re so pompous.”

He raised his head and glared at her.

“Don’t look at me like that, either. I’m no stranger to hard work.” She scanned the room. Jesus, wasn’t there air-conditioning in this little closet? She pulled at the neckline of her scoop neck top. “Anything else I can help with?”

Eric set aside the last case and leaned against the shelf. His arms crossed over his chest, and Candy tried to ignore the bulging biceps that stood out beneath the sleeves of his grey t-shirt.

Ah, hell.

Her heart skipped and her pussy throbbed. Just when she thought she’d shoved the need for him aside, he had to go and look all manly and tasty standing there.

“I thought you were here to whisk my sister off somewhere?” She hated that he could see right through her plans. “Or are you here for a job? No longer young enough for those crazy sharks in magazines these days?”

Oh the bastard knew how to cut her to the quick. She wasn’t a washed-up has-been, but her time in the fashion and modeling limelight had come and gone. “You really need to let go of that high-and-mighty attitude. You know nothing about me. Now,” she waved her arms, “anything here need to be taken out front?”

He smirked, and she wanted to slap him. But he shrugged and pointed to the shelf above her head. “I need that red box there brought down. The blue one beside it too. They aren’t heavy, just napkins.”

She nodded and lifted her arms. In her six-inch heels it was hard to reach so high, and she widened her stance for better balance. The tips of her fingers eased the red box closer to the edge for her to grab the sides. She lowered it and set it on the stack of cases he had on the cart.

“I’m glad I can help. Melissa looked a bit frazzled out there. She is a hard worker.”

He coughed. “We all grew up working hard.”

Candy reached for the blue box and nodded. “It seems like a great family unit that you all have.” Crap, this one was a bit farther back. She felt a breeze cross her skin as her top rose, baring her midriff. She wobbled on her heels. Shit. That’s all she needed was to fall on her ass while in a skirt and look like a fool.

Warm hands suddenly circled her waist. Gasping, she drew in a deep breath and grabbed on to the shelf with both hands as he touched her.

“Easy there, darlin’. Those heels aren’t exactly made for working.” His searing breath washed over her neck. Electric currents spread along her skin, igniting and firing to life. Goddamn, goddamn.

New Release! Guarding Midnight by Kacey Hammell – A Good Writer Needs …

I’m so excited to share that Kacey Hammell has a new release! Squee! I got an early read on this one and I was blown away. I encourage you to add this to your TBR list. Guarding Midnight is a must read.

It’s my pleasure to give me blog over to Kacey today. She’s sharing what a good writer needs, all the details on her new release and a sexy excerpt too. Enjoy! ❤

Sometimes, it takes a village. And it’s true. It takes a cohesive family to raise a child right. It takes a band of friends and family to pull off a great wedding. It takes a group of friends to support an actor, singer or a writer.

A good writer needs:

A great story, a fabulous editor, an amazing proofreader, honest and no holds barred critique partners, a skilled cover artist, and a supportive publisher.

I’ve been lucky enough to have all those, and one person  in particular has been in my corner for a number of years. She’s the one that I can email every day, cry on her shoulder, tell my deepest secrets to, rant to about when my husband is being a dick (which doesn’t happen often), and share the joys of family, writing, and have a camaraderie of sisterhood.

She’s very important to me. A dear, dear friend, whom I couldn’t help name my heroine after in Guarding Midnight. Shree “Walker” is a wonderful, living and breathing woman who I could rave on and on about for days (she’ll read this, so I better not), and I just hope that when she gets the chance to finally sit and read the full edition of the book, she’ll be pleased with the results. (She did read it long, long before it was a finished first draft! But it’s changed drastically since then!)

So to my dear, Shree… Love ya. Thank you. For everything! xoxo.

“You women are so pigheaded.” He inched a step closer. “You never know when to shut up and just listen. I’m trying to take care of all of you here.”

“Then go tell some of the other girls. You’ve given me my orders. Fine. You’re done. We’re done.” Chin up, Shree turned away.

He grabbed her arm, startling her. She spun back, legs unsteady, and reached out blindly as she began to fall.

The world spun around her, and she braced to hit the floor.

Warmth wrapped her waist, and then darkness smashed into her.

A deep groan brought her back. Scanning the room, the realization hit her. She was atop Gavin. She gasped. His strong body had broken her fall, though she’d probably end up with some bruises. He gazed at her with his beautiful cognac eyes.

Getting involved with him would be a very bad idea. She had to study, work hard to finish school and get away from clubs for good. She searched his gaze, searching for what she didn’t know. Maybe some sign that her heart wouldn’t be bruised after he was done with it.

“Shree.” Jesus. Her name rolled off his lips almost like a growl. The rasp put her body into overdrive. Her pussy clenched and pricks of electricity tingled along her back.

This man wasn’t right for her. She was going to get hurt. Deep in her gut, she knew it. And she always listened to her gut. Always.

Not this time.

No, she couldn’t—wouldn’t—miss out on taking what she could. For herself. To forget school, the job, and the past, she’d jump in with both feet and screw what might happen.

She captured his mouth with hers. A deep moan of delight escaped her.

His palms skimmed up her back, his mouth opening wide and allowing her entrance into the deep recesses of him. Stale coffee and mint coated her tongue.

Her palms skimmed over his bald head, caressing with her fingertips, acquainting herself with the feel of him. She lingered at each bump and scar, over his ears to his cheekbones.

Never before had she tasted anything as delicious or been so engrossed in the textures of a man’s roughened skin before. Tight, tough skin that was from hard living, rough times, and that of a man’s man. He was glorious. An Alpha man who was allowing his woman to take the lead.

No. No, dammit, not his woman.

Shree pushed the annoying voice aside and pulled back. Staring at him, his eyes blazed with desire…no, there would be no going back now. For now, in this moment, she would be his woman. He could brand her, claim her as his, but only this once. And she’d walk away knowing the decision was all hers.

Sitting up, astride his hips, she held his gaze and tossed the towel from around her neck aside. Her palms skimmed over his chest. The blue button-down shirt he wore did little to hide the feel of his tight muscles. His warm palms sat on her thighs, as if waiting for her permission to touch.

She leered at him, certain he was anxious to take over, loving the feel of tension in his arms and pecs as he held himself in check. How he understood that she needed this, she didn’t know. Nor did she care.

Silence filled the small room as she opened the buttons of his shirt to the waist. There was a heaven, and she was looking at it. Naked golden skin and tight ridges took her breath away. He worked hard to stay in this shape. Who was she not to admire it?

“Keep looking at me like that and I’ll have you under me in five seconds.” His gravelly voice cut through her thoughts.

Empowered by the passion in his eyes, she grinned at him then shrugged. “Nothing wrong with that, but I like to be on top.” She shifted on his hips, her breath catching as she felt his hard shaft against her ass.

Oh yes, this man had been blessed very well. His length pushed against her, and fire spread from her pussy straight to her toes. Her nipples pebbled tight, aching and throbbing.

Her body rocked against his, friction from his jeans and the spandex covering her was delicious. It was crazy to be so into a man like Gavin so soon after meeting him. But her body led the way. It wanted the connection to him, needed to feel him inside and around her.

These tumultuous emotions were foreign to her.

“Shree.”

“Shh, just hush,” she whispered, shifting her hips against his. She shoved the hem of her bra up over her breasts.

“Fuck, you’re gorgeous.” A growl erupted from his throat.

Gaze locked on his, she lifted his hands and pressed them against her aching nipples. She gasped. The heat of his touch swirled through her body. Shifting her hips down, her pussy lips cradled his shaft through their clothes.

Delirious. Out of control.

Her mind spun with images of how she wanted to ride him. The powerful friction from their clothing and his skin set her on fire. Adrenaline rushed through her, wanting him, and to satisfy the hunger racing over her.

Desperation this strong had never hit her so hard.

Her hands went to his belt, unbuckling it, and drew it apart.

He stilled her movements. “Are you sure?”

Shree withdrew from under his hold, yanked open the button, and parted the zipper. “Going to back out on me?” she challenged, fearing he’d leave her needy.

He chuckled. It was light and relaxed to her. “Not bloody likely.” His fingers pushed beneath the leg of her shorts, pulling it all into each hand.

Frowning, she gaped at him. “What are you do—” She screamed, body jerking as he pulled her shorts apart. Staring at the mess of spandex he held, her jaw dropped. It was like sitting atop the Incredible Hulk whose strength was feared while admired.

The garment lay in tatters, the waistband the only thing keeping the material around her. Gavin tossed the bits that remained in his palms over his head.

His touch eased over her bare mound, reawakening the arousal coursing through her. Thankful she hadn’t worn any underwear, she lifted a bit, allowing his fingers to slide between their bodies and find her clit.

Giving herself up to his touch, she sucked in a deep breath and tilted her head back.

Moisture coated her channel, filling her, making it easier for him to glide his fingers back and forth. Electric currents of heat surrounded her clit and her pussy tightened. Two digits slipped inside her, and the breath rushed out of her. His guttural moan cut through the air.

Her eyelids lifted. She needed to regain control. It was best for her to lead this brief interlude, and remind herself just how strong she could be, realize how much she could still love her body and the needs that couldn’t always be denied.

Adjusting up on her knees, she pushed his touch away. She lowered his jeans and underwear to the floor and off his feet. The gorgeous sight of his hard cock caught her breath and saliva filled her mouth.

She’d never given a man head before, and didn’t know if she could ever bring herself to do so, but in this moment, having him inside her cunt was way more important than anything.

____________

Laying his forehead on her shoulder, he breathed deep. “Damn you’re intoxicating.”

Maddy palmed the back of his head, holding him in place as his hips still moved and let sweet agony build. The friction of her panties and shorts against her clit were spectacular. But she needed more.

Nerves skated through her as she walked her fingers down his torso and found the string of his shorts. Pulling, she untied them and shoved her hands inside. When she clasped his wide girth, his head lifted fast. Grey shoved his fingers into her hair and clenched tight. He gazed down into her eyes.

“Christ, Maddy. Uh, God.” He sucked in a deep breath as she tightened her fingers. “I’m so horny right now, you keep that up and I’ll explode.”

She continued to stroke him as his hands roamed over her. Her breath caught when he skimmed over her throat, down her chest and over her breasts. Resting on the car, fist pumping him, she gave herself over to him.

He cupped her breasts. She looked down. The thin material of her bikini did little to hide the tight pebbles her nipples had become. She’d dressed with only the thought to get some color on her skin while gardening and definitely not about the chance to seduce a man. She never suspected she’d be in a garage with her hunky neighbor next door, legs spread wide and practically begging to be screwed, with her hand down his shorts pumping him off.

He caressed her exposed skin, skimming and trailing his fingers over her abdomen and chest. Her skin burned in their wake.

She caught sight of the redness on his side. “We have to be careful of your wounds,” she whispered. The tips of his fingers grazed her nipples. Maddy jerked and moaned.

“I’ll be fine. Damn your nipples are stiff and hot like this.” Grey repeated the action. “So rigid and begging for more.”

Maddy had few lovers in her life and never had any of them talked naughty with her. Her pussy wept and her nipples peaked against her bikini top even more. She enjoyed hearing Grey’s pleasure. And she wanted more.

She cupped his balls. He let his head fall back on his shoulders, his eyelids mere slits as he continued to stare at her, his mouth open as his breath quickened. With her other hand, she pulled the strings and opened her top. He gazed at her naked flesh, his nostrils flaring.

More free and sexy than she’d ever been in her life, she palmed one breast, massaging and lifting it higher. She claimed the nipple, pinching and rolling it between her thumb and index finger. Her inner muscles clenched at the gratification.

“Yeah, babe, show me what you like.”
