Review Prophecy of the Undead by Fiona McGier

Prophecy of the Undead

by Fiona McGier

Length: 143 pages
Release Date: November 7, 2012
Publisher: Eternal Press
Genre: Paranormal Romance w/a touch of Syfy

Keisha is a neurobiology researcher determined to discover the secret to intelligence to save humanity from itself. What she learns leads her to realize a bigger threat comes from beyond the stars. Yuri is a Russian vampire whose long-dead feelings respond to the scientist whose brain he admires but whose curves he can’t resist. Will his love reach the places in her heart that she has ignored for so long? And can they defeat the prophecy of the undead to find happiness sharing eternity?

Prophecy of the Undead starts like a freight train. The heroine trusted the wrong person and now her life is in jeopardy. Thank goodness she has a secret admirer who just happens to be a vampire. The start is fast past, exciting and romantic, although the romance does continue, it’s nothing like in these first pages when they’re first falling for each other. The next section is full of mystery and once again the heroine’s life is threatened, but by her own hand. She’s not crazy, there is some scary evil behind it, you’ll have to read the story to figure that part out. It’s chilling. There is also a climatic end and setup for more to come.

There are a handful of sex scenes and they’re all very well written. The conflict is heavy and well placed, nothing feels forced. the story reads faster in some places than others, but the whole is a very intriguing read. The genre is a bit of a mix, the syfy is there, but definitely not a huge part of the book which leans more towards the paranormal and the vampire skills in Fiona’s world. Her spin is fun. I liked it, it’s a solid 4.0. You should think about reading it too.

Review: Eternity by Tmonique Stephens

Cursed for 2000 years, Roman Nicolis has tracked his lovers’ soul through each reincarnation only to lose her horribly every time. Reclaiming their love is their only salvation. He’s been her friend, her father, her neighbor, but never again her lover . . . until now.

A late night walk home throws Stella into the path of a killer. The last thing she remembers are the deep blue eyes of the man trying to kill her—and the first things she sees after a seven day coma are the same blue eyes in the handsome face of the man hired to protect her. Is it fears she feels when Roman touches her or the memory of something sweeter? She will have to push past her fears and reclaim a love that has lasted two millennia.

This story is packed full of all kinds of things that will keep your heart beating with passion, with fear, with anger, with excitement, and with love. The story starts fast and does not let go. It’s a page turner. It all starts with fabulous suspense and mystery, there’s a serial killer, Egyptian mythology, and it’s all mixed up with real love and passion.

It was so much fun to watch Stella grow and discover her strength through this book. She gets a lot thrown at her and she’s not perfect, she stumbles through her feelings in a real, refreshing way. Roman is not perfect either and that’s part of why I love him. At one point he thinks: It galled to be lumped together with everyone else that hurt, left, and disappointed her. No, he’s not perfect. He’s lived through a whole lot of loss, and even though he puts her needs first, his choices add to her pain. The love story here is fascinating, at times it’s raw and filled with pain and at others it’s erotic and beautiful.

Tmonique does a beautiful job of rolling out the details of her story at just the right time. Just when you think she’s pulled her last surprise, wait, there’s more. Oh, and the side characters add all kinds of enjoyable color and depth.  I will most definitely be reading the next book in this series.

I recommend Eternity to all paranormal romance readers and give it a 5.0

Review: Rescuing Lacey by Rebecca Heflin

Rescuing Lacey coverRescuing Lacey

by Rebecca Heflin

Publisher: Soul Mate Publishing, LLC

Release Date: September 26th, 2012

Genre: Romance

When tough battle-scarred photojournalist-turned-wildlife-photographer Lacey Sommers travels to Costa Rica in a last-ditch effort to save her job, she meets beach-bum-gorgeous Luke Hancock, an outdoor guide, environmentalist and expert on economics and sustainability, who’s been hired by her magazine to serve as her pilot and wilderness guide for the duration of her stay.

It’s clear from the outset there is a powerful physical attraction between the two, but strong personalities, pre-conceived notions, an unexpected and contentious family connection, and the scars from a tragic death and a terrifying event threaten to keep them apart.

Will Lacey shed the mantle of Kevlar she’s worn for so long and allow Luke inside her heart? Or will her ostensible strength be her downfall?

Rebecca is a new to me author and I’m so happy to have found her.  This hard to put down book made me feel like I’d gone on the adventure too. Lacey and Luke were easy for me to love and so is Rebecca’s writing style. Her characters and interactions have real, visible layers. There was also a bit of humor and well paced action.

Lacey and Luke are explosive, their anger and passion come right at you speeding you through the pages of this story. There are lots of layers to this story and they don’t feel pilled on, they move and shift and get worked through. Rebecca doesn’t leave you hanging.

I recommend Rescuing Lacey to all romance readers and give it a 5.0

Review: Wicked Allure by Leslie C. Ferdinand

Wicked Allure by Leslie C. Ferdinand

Paperback: 280 pages
Contemporary Erotic Romance
Published March 17th 2012

This cover first graced my blog on May 7, 2012 and I’m so happy to have it back again today, so pretty. On her first visit we got some Q&A, today I give you my review, then their bio and finally the buy links (which you’re going to want). First, check out the blurb and trailer.

What Does A Man Say to the Woman He Betrayed But Never Stopped Loving?

Three years ago, Zachary Steele refused to entertain thoughts of permanency with any woman. A hedonist at heart, he didn’t want to corrupt the much younger, Madigan DeLeon, by continuing his affair with her. With the hidden scars of his past, he didn’t believe in happily-ever-after. By the time he realized how much Madigan meant to him, he’d driven her away. Then, one night, after being clean for a number of years, Zach briefly falls off the bandwagon. He believes his lovemaking to Madi is a drug-induced hallucination. The resulting consequences tell another story.

What Does A Woman Do When the Only Man She’s Ever Loved Hurt Her So Deeply She Feared She’d Never Recover?

Three years after her affair with Zach so abruptly ended, celebutante, Madigan DeLeon, is thrust back into Zach’s life by her mother’s machinations. Brought home under the false pretenses of repairing her damaged relationship with her mother, Madi instead finds herself running a private sex club called Wicked Allure. Forced to confront her anger at his betrayal and grief at the loss of what might’ve been, Madi faces the realization that she’s never stopped loving Zach.

Can Two Broken Hearts Set Aside Anger and Betrayal to Find True Love Once and For All?

Searching the deepest recesses of their hearts, in a place where pride and pain has no room, Madi and Zach must decide if their bond is strong enough to take a second chance at love. Or if resuming their sexual relationship is an irresistible wicked allure and the ghosts of their former relationship will finally, and forever, sever all ties between them.

S. J.’s Review:

Wicked Allure starts fast and hooks you. The first scene smolders and finishes with some fast moving dialogue. I don’t think I looked up from the book during the first 50 pages, I wanted more. Madi and Zach put each other through the ringer. Man, the emotion and passion on the page is very real. Their sex scenes are burning hot, this writing team has a real talent for adding the heat and there is loads of it too. Love it. Madi’s family adds a ton of conflict to this story providing a war of emotions and entanglements. You feel right in the middle of the story, and believe me, you’ll feel the roller coaster turning. The story will put you through the ringer and the drama stays fresh and moving right till the very end. The biggest question of all is will Madi and Zack work things out. Will they push past life’s challenges, push past what scares them the most and make the grand leap. It’s fascinating page turning stuff.

5.0 – I loved it, it’s a must read

My Review

This book caught by attention recently and I grabbed at the chance to review it. It captured my interest from the first sentence. Patricia doesn’t make you wait before she brings in some heat. It’s a quick read, but there is a story here. Liv has been a model for some time, but has recently given up the weight restrictions for the normalcy of plus sized modeling. Liv can eat like a normal person now, but the issues of weight linger everywhere. I could sympathize with Liz, she has a hard time feeling confident with her body. Trey doesn’t understand of course, her body’s beautiful, but he helps her with a delicious spanking. Trey is a wonderful leading man. He’s strong in his convictions and he doesn’t back down when Liv pushes his buttons.

There all kinds of spanking scenes, plenty of heat between Liv and Trey and a couple of side stories to fill out this book with intrigue. Trey and his brothers run a BDSM boot camp, but here you’ll find some good D/s and spankings. I mentioned that, right? Yes, some fabulous spankings. I frowned to see alcohol was allowed at the boot camp and it didn’t seem restrictive. But Liv is smart and puts the one-drink limit on herself, thank goodness.

I enjoyed this story and it was hard to put down. The majority of the scenes read very quickly. In looking at my rating system definitions I couldn’t decide between a 4 or 5, so this is a very solid 4.5. I recommend you read this book. I will most definitely be reading the next book in this series.

Trey likes to spank and he makes that pretty clear early in their acquaintance by spanking Liv during a walk among the pecan trees. It turns out that Liv likes it, but he holds some back as a reward to be given at a more appropriate time. Not long after they meet, Liv finds out that spanking isn’t always fun—she gets mouthy and disrespectful in front of some of Trey’s friends, and he takes her out to his truck to teach her some manners. Unfortunately, while he’s spanking her, a paparazzo snaps a photo of her bare-bottomed and face turned toward the camera as she’s being spanked.

Liv is mortified and sure that her career will be over if that photo gets published. Trey feels guilty for putting her in that position, not to mention that his commanding officer is displeased with his behavior. They simply must get the rights to the picture so that it can’t be published.

At first, there was a cool breeze on her bare bottom, as the pecan trees shielded her from the harsh sun. Birds chirped incessantly; it seemed like all the birds in the world came to Texas in the spring. Trey’s thighs under her belly were warm and hard and there was a growing lump against her left hip where his excited cock lay tucked into his jeans. As his hand passed over her bottom, Trey hummed softly. It was a sound of pleasure, a calm sound, a controlled sound. Liv’s heart beat faster, knowing what that sound presaged. The humiliation of being bare-assed and over his lap was nothing compared to what was to come.

The sharp retort of the strap on her butt cheeks silenced the birds entirely. Some flew away in fright. And it hurt, but Liv gasped not out of pain but surprise at the sudden smack. Even knowing that it was to come, the exact moment it fell was always one second before it was expected. The first blow was still echoing through her mind when there was a second, third, and fourth. Heat blossomed over her rear and a sharp sting became a bright bloom. She moaned as the count rose above ten, and she couldn’t help but squirm.

“Still, angel.” His free hand pressed down on her back to keep her steady. She couldn’t do it herself. Her body wanted to wriggle away from the pain. Or, parts of it did. Some parts, the parts that sometimes wouldn’t heed her better judgment, got wet and slick and very ready for the reward Trey would share with her.

As the count reached twenty-two, tears began to stream from Liv’s eyes and her moans became sobs. She wanted this spanking, she knew she both needed and deserved it. Tears would cleanse any lingering feelings of guilt over poor behavior and her reward for taking her punishment would be hot, hotter than her flaming ass.

Liv lost count after twenty-five blows from the strap. She knew her bottom would be striped and fiery red. She’d seen it in the mirror after times like this. Perversely, she wore those stripes like a badge for the day or two they lingered. She’d earned her pleasure. She’d paid for her transgressions. Conflict was over and only sweet contentment remained.

Crying freely, she sobbed and sniffled as the spanking stopped. Trey’s big, hot hand glided over her stinging behind reverently, and sometimes a finger would trace one of the welts left by the strap.

“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice thick and watery.

His fingers slipped between her legs and found her pool of excitement. Her hot face got hotter. “You gonna be a good girl now and mind when I’m tellin’ you to do what you know you should?”

“It’s a habit…”

“A habit we need to get you over or you’ll be miserable, Liv.”

His fingers dipped deeper into her pussy and explored a little. A wave of pure desire washed through Liv’s belly.

“Yeah,” she agreed, though her mind was on those fingers. They retreated slightly and slid toward her swollen clit. “Please. Trey. Please.”

She could hear the smile in his voice as he responded. “Please what?”

The last of her tears dripped onto the leaf-strewn ground. “Please, fuck me.”

He rolled her over on his lap and pressed her face against his broad chest. “You’ll have to wait until after.”

“After! But that’s hours from now!”

She looked up into his face, hoping for a teasing look in his brown eyes. The crinkles at the corners told her that he was smiling, even before she noticed his grin. “You can’t be serious.”

“I am.”

He slid his hand up her torso and cupped a full breast, his thumb flicking over her nipple as it pressed against her bra and thin cotton blouse.

“You’re being mean.”

She growled her frustration and squirmed, her bottom hot and itchy against his denim. One more try. “Please?”

“Nope. After.”

Trey did things in his own time, and in his own way. Liv was usually happy about that; she trusted him after all they’d been through. So she’d wait for her reward. After wasn’t so far away.

S. J.’s Review:

I’ve been very open about my love for Cherise Sinclair and everything she has written.  One of the things I love about all my favorite authors is their ability to write something new and challenge my love for them.  I know I probably wont always love everything all my favorite authors write, right, and that’s OK, really.  So did I love Cherise’s new book?  I’ll tell you that in a minute, first let me give you some feelings I had while reading.

First feeling, 753 KB!!  Oh yes, I was not going to finish this book in one night and I was thrilled.  I just knew her characters would get their hooks in me and I wanted that feeling to last for several days.  I must say that Kim and Master R hooked me faster than any of Cherise’s books.  Knowing that I wanted them to have a happy ending with in the first minutes of reading was hard when I remembered I’d have to wait for 753 KB to find out how their story ends up.  As a reader nothing is better than needing to know what will happen next when you are fully invested in the outcome.  At one point in the book I got so frightened for Kim that I wanted to put the book in the freezer, Joey Tribbiani style, but, luckily for me, my eReader would not appreciate that treatment so I kept reading.

Kim has a ton of healing to do and she needs a Masters help.  Watching not only Kim, but Master R change and heal through the course of this book is breathtaking but it doesn’t happen easily.  When Master R gives Kim the firm hand and control she craves, oh my, I could feel the heat waves coming off my eReader, something my freezer definitely could NOT handle.  Kim has big problems in this story and her own needs are right up there.  You’ll have to read the book yourself to find out how she heals and the path she takes to discover her true needs.  We also get more suspense in this book, soul wrenching, heart pounding suspense, love it!!!  Catching up with couples from the other Shadowlands book is always fun and we get that as well.

Book 6 takes the steps takin in book 5 a full step further.  I think book 5 did prepare me well for book 6, which I think is pretty cool.  I also must say that book 6 has prepared me for several future books in the series.  Bring it all on Cherise Sinclair, every possible idea you have for the Shadowlands, pretty please with some Sam on top!! 😀

I loved this book, the streak continues, in fact I think this might be my favorite.  Well, I love all her books, don’t know that I can pick actually.  I have to give To Command and Collar

6.0 out of 6.0

Because I love it and because I did set a book aside to read this one and am very glad I did!!
