Excerpt:

Throwing the wrench down onto the tool pad, Jagger scrubbed a hand down his face. There were days he loved being a mechanic. Then there were days like today where he knew he should have listened to his mother and gotten into something else. Not that he’d ever tell the woman, even if he was still speaking to her. She already thought too highly of her own opinions. Gods only knew where the woman was today, at least she wasn’t in Shifter Falls giving him even more trouble so that was good.

He grabbed the bottle of water he’d been working on and took a long haul while staring at the engine in question. He was missing something, and it was really starting to piss him off that he couldn’t figure it out.

For the last ten years, he’d been head mechanic at the only automotive shop in Shifter Falls. They were the only one there because they only hired the best and did the best work. Competitors didn’t stand a hope in hell. There had been a few other places that had tried to start up in the Falls. But they’d all shut down within a year because they hadn’t had what it took to work in such a closely knit town. That and they’d been outsiders, something that didn’t go over well with the very private residents who ran the town.

Founded by a shifter pack more than two hundred years prior, the town was home to six different types of shifters. Only through harsh laws and firm hands at the helm of each pack did it work. Especially considering the mix the Falls had running around.

There were plenty of humans living and working there, too, but the majority of the population was other. Sometimes there were problems. Sometimes there were all-out fights, but in the end they all knew they had to live together so things had better damn well work out. Which they usually did, eventually.

Moving to the open door of the bay he was working in, he stared out at the falling snow. The weatherman had predicted another couple of inches throughout the day, and more overnight. Great for all the tourists currently running around Shifter Falls in search of as many wintertime activities as they could find. It also had its perks for the business. It was amazing how many out-of-state tourists had no idea how to handle driving in snow.

He spotted a friend and lifted a hand in greeting. Conroy Hayden was the owner of On The Plate, one of four restaurants in Shifter Falls. The guy was a damn connoisseur when it came to flavors. Likely why his restaurant had managed to get rave reviews in several travel and food magazines. Since then people had come to Shifter Falls not only for the events held but in the hopes to get a table in his restaurant.

“Con, good to see you. I have to admit I didn’t think you’d actually get out during the lunch rush.”

The large redhead shrugged and shot him a smirk. “Figured I should bring you something to eat or you’d forget. Again.”

Jagger spotted the bag then and felt his belly rumble. He’d only had a piece of toast and several cups of coffee for breakfast that morning. It was already one in the afternoon and he wasn’t exactly a small guy. Waving Conroy into the bay, he followed behind the man, shooting the troublesome engine a glare. He cleared off a spot on his work table before grabbing a couple stools to set in front. He took one while Conroy unloaded the bag, hitting Jagger with the scent of cooked meat and spices. His stomach let out a hungry snarl that earned him a knowing look from his friend. Jagger held his tongue, knowing anything he said would only provide Con with more ammo to use against him at a later date.

He accepted the plate from his friend and unwrapped it. A huge pile of roast beef he knew was slow cooked, mashed potatoes, and seasonal greens from the greenhouse at the end of town. Con handed him a little container which held gravy, utensils, and a napkin.

“Thanks,” he said. Cutting off a piece of the beef, Jagger slowly chewed the perfectly cooked meat. It practically melted on his tongue. “Damn this is good,” he practically moaned. Another bite he chewed slowly. He knew better than to shove Con’s food down his throat as fast as possible. The man would beat him silly. And Con was nearly as large as Jagger. They’d both taken boxing as kids, but Jagger had plain meanness on his side. Con was a good soul who wanted to help others, which was why he’d gotten into feeding folks. He said the food was good for the soul and part of why On The Plate did the soup kitchen for those who needed a helping hand.

After finishing the meal, Jagger wiped his mouth while Con packed up the dishes. The secondary dish caught his attention. “What’s that?”

“Dessert,” Con told him.

Accepting the dish, he pulled the top off and inhaled the scent from the hot dessert. It was a crumble of some sort. Rhubarb, for sure, definitely strawberries, but there was something else. He took a bite and let out a moan of pleasure.

“I’m going to assume you like it.”

“Dude, this is spectacular. What all’s in here?”

“The usual, but I threw in some cranberries this time for a more seasonal flavor. Gives it a different taste.”

He nodded, it did at that. Scraping out the last, he licked off the spoon under Con’s knowing watch and passed it back. Another wipe with his napkin before he tossed it into the garbage closest and leveled a look at his friend. “I guess this wasn’t just your need to feed me, since you usually dump and run. What’s going on?”

“Don’t know yet but figured I’d give you a heads-up. The sheriff and a couple deputies were in for lunch today and we got to talking. Apparently there are rumblings from the city council about another pack wanting to set up shop here. They’re calling an emergency meeting tomorrow night to discuss it with the alphas and their seconds. You’ll be getting the call soon, but I wanted to let you know before you got it. I know how much you hate surprises.”

That was an understatement. The last surprise Jagger had gotten was his parents divorcing, his father leaving the Falls, and his mother hooking up with the first of many younger males to keep her bed warm. Since then he’d managed to avoid being surprised with the help of those he called and considered to be true friends, like Conroy. Without them, he’d have been caught with his pants down more than once. But they looked out for him, and he helped look out for them in turn. They were more his family than his parents ever had been.

“I’ll be ready, thanks.” Standing, he gave his friend the quintessential man hug and walked him out of the bay. He stayed there a moment longer to watch the comings and goings of the locals and tourists before turning to face his current nemesis. One way or another he was damn well going to get this thing running. Then he could take it over to the hotel and return it to the tourist to which it belonged.

“All right, you giant hunk of metal, let’s get down to business.”

Excerpt:

Cassius Cupid woke with a start, and then sat bolt upright in his bed. Shit, I’m going to be late! was his first thought.

Milliseconds later his brain switched on, and he remembered. He was on holiday. Flopping back onto the warm mattress and pillows with a contented sigh, he smiled. No work for fourteen whole days—it was going to be utter bliss. He stretched, relishing the feeling it created in his sleep-softened muscles. Ahhh…this is the life.

He knew he wouldn’t go back to sleep—hell, it was eight o’clock, which was practically the middle of the day for someone in his profession—so Cassius fell to thinking about how he was going to spend his day, not to mention the several others in front of him. God knew he deserved to relax and have some fun. He’d just emerged from the busiest part of his year, and he was more than ready to do some chilling out.

He enjoyed his job as a postman—he really did—but the Christmas period was a total killer. He idly wondered how many cards and presents he’d delivered over the past few weeks. It didn’t bear thinking about. Once you factored in the festive period itself, the weird few days between Christmas and New Year, and then the flurry of mail that got sent when everyone went back to work properly at the beginning of January, he’d racked up some serious deliveries. And that was before you even thought about his other job—which was for just one day a year, but was arguably more important than the other 364 put together.

Cassius—or Cupid, as he was known to his boss and colleagues in his second, but most important job—was not only a regular postman for the Royal Mail, but also a reindeer. For a single day of the year, Cassius had the supernatural power to transform into one of Santa’s faithful steeds and help pull that famous magical sleigh, delivering presents to excited children the world over.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Cassius really did eat, sleep and breathe deliveries, but not for the next fourteen days. All he planned to do was watch some TV, read some books, maybe go out hiking, meet some friends… basically anything that wasn’t delivering something to someone. Hey, he might even receive something through the post himself—preferably not the usual crap; bills and junk mail. He didn’t hold out much hope.

He lounged in bed for another ten minutes before realising he was lying there just for the sake of it. Being on holiday didn’t have to equal staying in bed all day—and certainly not for someone as active as him. He reached over to his bedside table, grabbed his glasses and put them on. Throwing off his thick duvet, he walked to his bedroom window and peeked out through the curtains, immediately glad of the effective central heating he and his housemate had forked out to have installed the previous year.

The outside world was covered in a thick layer of snow, and Cassius was mightily glad that he wasn’t out delivering letters and parcels. The stuff was treacherous enough without having to carry a heavy bag up and down driveways, paths, and pavements — most of which either hadn’t been cleared, or had been cleared badly, leaving incredibly slippery patches of ground for an unsuspecting postie to come across. God knows he’d gone down enough times, but, much to his relief, nobody had ever seen him do it. He’d always been relatively unharmed—excerpt for his pride, of course—and had been able to scramble back to his feet and carry on.

The eerie silence outside was broken by the rumble of an engine, and Cassius turned his head to look up the street—he lived in a cul-de-sac, so he knew that’s where the vehicle would come from—and watched as a delivery van made its way slowly and carefully down the road. He hoped the driver was sensible enough to try and steer over the thickest parts of the snow—the more people went over and over the same patches, packing it down, the more the road surface resembled an ice rink. And since the cul-de-sac was on a slight hill, it was easy enough to get stuck. He’d seen it so many times—even going outside one time last winter to suggest the driver go down to the bottom of the road, turn around and try reversing up the hill—an almost foolproof plan for vans with rear-wheel drive. He’d gotten a big thumbs-up for that suggestion as the driver finally got to the junction where the road became flat, and went on his merry way.

As the van drew closer to his house, he saw that the driver was a woman. That would explain her cautious driving—he’d never admit it to one of his drinking buddies, but women were far superior when it came to driving in adverse weather conditions. He even thought he’d seen some survey containing statistics that proved it.

by Angelica Dawson

Terrance is fascinated with the vampires of Blue Moon House. When a fire leaves them homeless, he seizes the opportunity to put them in his debt and himself into their hearts. They agree to his proposition of a new house in America and set off on a voyage of wonder, danger and pleasure.

Investor is the fifth installment of Angelica Dawson’s Blue Moon House series. With each subsequent volume set further into the past, there is no need to read these books in order. Just pick it up, and enjoy!

He was absolutely exhausted and expected to fall asleep as soon as he was in bed. He didn’t. He was about to get up again when the door to the bedroom opened and Kate entered, wearing the filmy gown streaked with soot from the night before.

“May I?” she asked, setting a candle on the bedside table. “I’m not used to sleeping alone.”
Terrance smiled and shifted over, pulling back the blankets.
Kate pulled the gown over her head and let it float to the floor. She was clean beneath. Most of the ladies had washed in some manner, and Kate was one of them.
When he stared at her silently, she explained. “I don’t want to dirty your sheets, but I have nothing else to wear.”
He shook himself out of his stupor. “Of course.”
She blew out the candle and climbed in beside him. He expected her to touch him, being a whore, but she just curled into his side, head on his chest. When she didn’t, he began touching her, his fingers finding her breast and brushing the nipple.
She shivered against him before lifting her head enough to meet his lips. Her hand drifted over his belly, down toward his cock.
It didn’t rise quickly, probably as tired as the rest of him, but feeling and smelling the woman beside him, he soon found the energy. His arm circled her waist, sliding over her round rear and pulling her closer.
She let go of his hardness to slide on top of him, her legs wrapping around his hips. Her hands held and stroked his cheeks. She kissed him, gently at first, then with more passion as she moved her hips to press onto him.
He grasped her behind firmly in his large hands and pulled her open, thrusting up into her. She was warm and wet, exactly what he had been looking for. Neither of them were well rested, so after a few thrusts they both fell flat to the bed again.
Terrance wrapped his arms around Kate, curling behind her. “Thank you.”
“Olaf,” she whispered with a sigh. “Terrance,” she said a little louder, rubbing his arm wrapped around her.

Excerpt 1:

Petúr’s long coat flared out behind him, whipping in the wind—black raven wings. Above him, the moon danced in and out of existence and periodically hid behind the dreary clouds. He’d perched himself atop the rusted metal monstrosity which sat cold and derelict among the ruins of the abandoned seaside amusement park. From the top of the lifeless Ferris wheel he surveyed his realm, just as he did every night, waiting for the faint cries. They always came, those haunting cries, and called him and the lost boys into the darkness.

Cables clacked and Petúr tilted his head in a bird-like gesture, listening to them echo into the rhythmic music of the tide coming ashore. As if on cue, an eerie underlying chorus chimed in from the direction of the closed ticket booth. He recognized the sound of the warped roof when it moaned and creaked. The red painted exterior walls had long since faded and peeled away from the briny wood in elongated streaks, reminiscent of morbid tears.

He closed his eyes and attempted to picture this place he and the others called home, trying to imagine what it must have been during its glory days, but he couldn’t see anything. All he knew was the truth of his surroundings. And, the truth was, with every passing year more of his home crumbled. Even the entrance into this collapsing kingdom had joined the sea, snuffing out the arched sign which once upon a time blinked—Neverland—Mother Nature’s way of taking back her own when she’d claimed a major portion of the boardwalk.

Everything ends.

At least this parcel of land had done one thing. It gave Petúr and the others refuge from a world who’d discarded them as young boys.

He chuckled, darkly, and allowed his mind to wander away from the image of being a boy. He, Firefox, and his five other brothers may still exhibit the outward beauty of youthfulness, yet this was nothing but a façade. They’d grown into fierce warriors and protected the very people who’d spat upon them in their youth. Who would still spit upon them if they got the chance, he suspected.

Shaking his head, Petúr considered what he’d heard the whole of his life may indeed be true. He and the others may well be mad, because only madmen would fight to protect those who would never welcome them fully into the human world they’d had the misfortune of being a part of.

Balling his fists into tight knots, he knew it didn’t matter how many lives he and the others saved. They were still different from those whom they rescued. And, while they may no longer be petty thieves and beggars, they’d always been, and still were—outcasts. Unnatural. Freaks. Something more. Something not human. Although, there wasn’t a damn thing they could do about it, other than to take out their fury on those darklings who sought to destroy the weaker inhabitants of the human race. And take out their fury—they would.

“AAaiiee!”

Petúr abruptly stood when he heard a woman’s distressed scream. He took in a deep breath, tasting the flavor of the night. His lip curled up into a snarl right before he stepped off of his perch, shot into the clouds, and vanished into thin air.

Inside Look with Doris O’Connor author of The Bear Treatment

Click to see all the Inside Looks here at SJs

Apparently, it’s special treat week here at the Maylee ehouse. I adore Evernight Publishing’s Romance on the Go line and today I have Doris O’Connor with her ROTG. How much fun is this! It’s fabulous. 😀

_______________

Thanks so much for having me here today with my new release The Bear Treatment.

How do you make a move on your cousin’s best friend? That is my hero’s dilemma in the Bear Treatment. He has known Louisa since she was knee high, but she has only ever given him the death stare. Besides, his cousin would have had his pelt for a rug, had he tried anything.

Then there is the small matter of his being a shifter, and the whole council rules—not that they bother with him much. His family are not precious pure bloods. In fact, most of his side of the family can’t even shift anymore, their blood lines too diluted by centuries of mating with humans.

None of that would matter, however, if Louisa showed the slightest interest in the lifestyle. Instead she has only ever expressed disgust, despite all his instincts screaming at him that she is a natural submissive. So imagine his surprise when she turns up in his spa, and books an introduction into wax play.

Blow this bear shifter down with a grasshopper, there is no way anyone but he will give her that taste, especially as she’s just been dumped by another sorry excuse of a dick, who didn’t know what a precious gift submission is.

Still, it saved Luke form tearing the man limb from limb, and now that he’s got his girl where he wants her, nothing and no one is going to stop him from giving Louisa the bear treatment…

thebeartreatment1mBlurb:

There’s nothing quite like being dumped by another good-for-nothing boyfriend to focus a girl’s mind. Fun has been missing from Louisa’s life for far too long, and a bit of wax play at the spa-with-a-difference is just what she needs to take her mind off her birthday.

What can possibly go wrong? It’s not as though the man she’s been secretly lusting after for years would turn up and see her in all of her wobbly bits glory, or give her one mind blowing orgasm after the other, is it?

That would mean she is getting the bear treatment. You know the one—ends up being mated to one droolworthy, dominant, bear shifter—and ticks off the council no end. One thing’s for certain. After this birthday nothing will be the same again.

Be Warned: BDSM, spanking, wax play, anal play

Excerpt:

When he bit down on her clit her orgasm rushed through her with so much force that she screamed and bit her lip hard enough to taste her own blood, in an effort to muffle that scream.

They were on top of a crowded restaurant, for God’s sake. If she turned her head she could see the people dining below. All it would take was for one of them to look up and they would see her sprawled along the table with Luke once again lapping at her cream as she gushed her juices into his waiting mouth. The thought that one of the diners would look up, made her orgasm burn hotter, and with her body still shaking in delicious aftershocks she almost didn’t notice the slight pressure against her little puckered hole until Luke slipped a slick finger wet with her own arousal knuckle deep into her ass.

She would have bowed off the table had his hot hand on her tummy not held her down, and she lost herself in the heated stare of his golden eyes as their gazes connected.

“That’s my girl.” His voice had dropped an octave, dripping in lust, and her body went limp under his possession. “This ass and this pussy are mine to do with as I please are they not, my sweet Lou?”

He pushed deeper into her butt, and she gasped at the burning pain of another finger slipping past that ring of muscle. Discomfort gave way to heat when he started to thrust those two fingers in and out of their tight confines, and added the thumb of his other hand to her clit and rubbed that sensitive bundle of nerves in small circles designed to push her over the edge once more.

The strange sensation in her ass awakened unused nerve endings, and she clamped around his digits, increasing the heady sensations bombarding her.

“That’s it, my sweet. Ride those fingers. I can’t wait to see your little hole stretched with a butt plug to prepare you for my cock, and you will let me take you back here, won’t you?”

The veins on his neck stood out, his smile showed his fangs, and with the eyes of his bear looking down on her he never looked more the wild animal he had inside than right now. The thought should have terrified Louisa, but instead it had the opposite effect on her. She was his prey, his for the taking, and the thought turned her on even more.

“Yes, yes, God yes, I’m yours to do with as you please, Sir.”

Her whispered answer made him step up his assault on her senses, and everything inside of her drew tight as she climbed up those rungs of lust until the world narrowed to just the feel of his fingers in her ass, and his big body covering her.

Luke bent closer, not once slowing his fingers as they fucked her into another orgasm, and then he kissed her. His tongue mimicked the action of his digits, and she kissed him back until her lungs screamed at her they needed air, as her body shook in the grip of the tremors wracking through her. She winced when he withdrew his fingers from the tight clasp of her ass, and then gasped when he shrugged out of his shirt. The man’s torso was magnificent and sprinkled with liberal amounts of hair that she wanted to run her fingers through. His pectorals flexed as he threw the shirt across the room, and she let her gaze admire the play of muscles. The way his hair thickened to a dark trail that acted like a beacon to his magnificent cock. Despite her earlier attention to that particular body part, he was once again erect. Veins ran along the length of the impressive organ, and the thick mushroom head glistened in the muted lighting of the room. Louisa licked her lips, suddenly desperate for another taste of his salty musk, and Luke laughed. Low and menacing, the sound was more animal than human, and set her arousal to fever pitch.

“Not this time, my sweet. This time I want to bury my cock into your tight cunt. I want to see your lips stretched around my girth, as you struggle to take all of me, but you will, won’t you, pet? You’ll milk my cock like the good little subbie you are, and you’ll gush your cream all over my dick again and again, won’t you?”

“Yes, Sir.” How she managed to force the words past her kiss swollen lips she would never know. Her gaze was riveted to his cock, where Luke was fisting himself slowly. He squeezed the tip of his dick until his pre-cum slid on his fingers and with a wicked grin held those digits up to her mouth.

Louisa opened up eagerly, only too willing to taste him again, and she groaned when he hooked those fingers inside her mouth holding her in place while he ran the tip of his erection through her wet slit repeatedly. He bumped into her clit at every upstroke, sending jolts of electricity through her system, and her nostrils flared as she tried to breathe through her nose.

“Look at me, pet.”

His rough command made her eyes snap to his again, and she swallowed hard around the digits in her mouth. The intensity of his golden gaze was hard to take, as he pinned her in place with the sheer force of his will.

“You’re mine, and when I sink my cock into your cunt, I’m going to sink my fangs into your flesh and mark you as mine.”

Author Bio:

Glutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris… at least that’s what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.

There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head. Click to see all the Inside Looks here at SJsMy love for the fabulous Doris O’Connor continues today. If you missed her post yesterday on the Top Ten Things to love about Aliens, you must click over. You don’t want to miss her excerpt from Her Alien Warriors or her giveaway either. My blog is once again yours, Doris. 😀

Thanks so much for having me here today with my paranormal BDSM story Her Imaginary Lover.

Did you have an imaginary friend as a child? I bet he felt very real to you. What if these imaginary friends were real, however? And what if, not all of them were nice friends… What if there was a whole other dimension…

Such is the premise behind Her Imaginary Lover.

To Macie, Kaylom has always been real. Blind from birth, she never realized other people couldn’t see him, until her parents started to doubt her sanity, and eventually she sent him away.

That was fifteen years ago, but Kaylom is back now, and Macie is not a child anymore…

HIL2Blurb:

~Editors Pick~

When your imaginary friend turns out to be real, there’s only one thing you can do—have the best sex of your life.

Macie Johann’s ordered world is thrown into chaos, when she is attacked on her way home from work. The muscle bound hunk that comes to her rescue would appear to be naked? Okay then, maybe she has hit her head a bit too hard, but then again no one else seems to notice him, and there is something very familiar about this guy.

Blind from birth Macie has learnt to trust her senses, and they all scream at her to grab her chance of true happiness with the man, who makes her body and soul sing. Never mind the small fact of his not being human.

When their actions get Kaylom yanked back into his dimension to stand trial, Macie follows determined to fight for her man.

Excerpt:

Macie grinned at the sound of smashing crockery, as he kicked her legs apart and urged her forward until her torso lay prone on her table. With her breasts squashed into the wood, and his hand applying pressure on her shoulder blades, she had nowhere to go. A shudder went through her when he stepped so close that his hair roughened thighs touched the back of her legs. His heavy erection slid along her pussy lips, and she knew she was coating him in her juices. They slid down the inside of her thighs.

The mere fact they were doing this here, now, in her kitchen added another layer of deliciously naughty to the whole experience. Her kitchen faced a busy main street, and she had no curtains up. In theory anyone would be able to see in and see what they were doing. A giggle escaped her at the thought. Not that they would see Kaylom. They would no doubt wonder at the strange woman who lay naked along her table.

Kaylom’s chest molded itself along her back, and a little nip to her shoulder focused his attention back on him.

“What’s so funny?” he asked.

“Nothing.”

A sharp pinch to the side of her breast made her gasp. That sting traveled straight to her clit, and she wriggled her hips to relieve the resulting ache in her pussy.

“Nothing, is it? I think my little munchkin needs to be reminded who’s boss.”

He lifted off her, and she moaned at the loss of his body warmth. A smack to her ass ground her pelvis into the edge of the table, and she bit her lip to stop from crying out. That felt way too good. He soothed the sting with his hand, and then spanked her other cheek with considerably more force than the first swat. Macie yelped and squirmed under his hands, and his chuckle seemed to echo around the room. It only served to stoke her excitement further. Kaylom ran his hands up and down her spine and then up her arms taking them with him. He curled her fingers over the opposite edge of her small table.

“Keep them like this and don’t move, or I’ll have to tie you to this table, do you hear me?”

“Yes,” she said, and all the breath left her lungs when he smacked her ass with so much force she slid further up the table.

“Yes, what?” he asked, and this time there was no mistaking the edge of command in his voice. He yanked her head back hard, and his hot breath skittered across her sweat slicked flesh as he nipped at her lips and throat. A feminist would have a field day with her right now, but fuck her, if this display of his dominance didn’t turn her on even more.

What had he said? His kind demanded their mates to be submissive and calling him “Sir” was a token of respect.

“Yes, Sir,” she said, and he kissed her with so much passion, it took her breath away.

“Good girl. You have no idea how much it means to me to hear you say that.”

She blinked back tears and held onto the edge for dear life when he grasped her hips, and pulled her down the table until her ass hung off it.

“You’re so fucking wet for me baby. You want me to fuck this sweet ass of yours, don’t you?” His breath felt cool across her slick folds, and his fingers dug into her thighs as he spread her wider, and Macie lost the ability to think at the first touch of his tongue.

He licked her from slit to clit and back again, until she was so close to coming she didn’t even know what the sounds were spilling from her mouth.

Seconds before she reached that all elusive peak, he withdrew, and she thumped her head against the table in frustration.

“Bastard, err, Sir.”

He laughed and then rained a series of hard swats on her ass that left her breathless and even wetter.

“Oh your butt reddens beautifully under my hands, my sweet, and let’s gets one thing straight. I will not tolerate you using cuss words. Your mouth is far too pretty for anything that nasty to come out of it. If we were in my realm I’d shove a gag inside that foul sounding mouth and then strap a vibrator inside you with just enough force to keep you on the edge without coming. How would you like that?”

Macie shook her head and swallowed nervously.

“No, Sir, thank you, Sir, I wouldn’t like that at all.”

The air displacement gave her a second’s warning before he tunneled his tongue into her pussy hole, and she climbed back up those delicious rungs of tingling bliss before he once again withdrew.

Macie keened her disappointment, and he delivered several more open handed swats to her ass, before he attacked her swollen and sensitive pussy again.

Macie lost count how many times he spanked her and then revved her up again before withdrawing. Time lost all meaning. All that mattered were the painful swats to her ass that morphed into blissful heat, which suffused her entire body until she felt on fire for this man.

From far, far away she heard his voice eventually, and she flinched when something cold hit her ass crack.

“Sorry, my sweet, this will only last a moment.”

Doris Author PicGlutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris… at least that’s what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.

There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head.  EXCERPT:

She sensed them as they drew closer to her—many different spirits, their energy buzzing on varying frequencies.

“One at a time, guys. Please.” she said. But they didn’t listen. These were the spirits of the mentally ill, after all. Taking turns wasn’t their concern, and they all rushed her. She felt their presence closing in on her like an avalanche, and she was consumed. Every mental illness imaginable was thrown into her psyche as she tightened her grip on Gage’s hand and slumped down in her chair.

“Allison! Allison, are you okay?” Gage’s voice was a distant echo as she fought to hold on to herself. She was slipping. Sliding into the depths of despair and the spirits were pulling her down.

“It’s… No… There’s a light… You need to… You need to go to it.” She tried to help the spirits cross over, but they wouldn’t listen. There were too many. Twenty at least, and they were so consumed by their own illnesses they thought of nothing else. Paranoia, depression, anxiety. Allison felt it all, and it was going to kill her. The pressure. So hard to breath. Her hands cradled her head as the migraine overtook her. Sharp, pounding pain had her crumpled on the floor as she drew her knees into her chest and rocked back and forth.

“Make it stop. Please, just make it stop.” She was paralyzed. Frozen by the anguish of the tortured souls that forced themselves upon her. Hot tears streamed down her face and blood trickled from her nose. She gasped for air as she heard a faint voice call, “Get her out of here!”

BIO:

Carrie Pulkinen has always been fascinated with the paranormal. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her father’s insatiable love for monster movies, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for an exciting storyteller.

When she’s not writing stories of amazing sex with devilishly handsome men, Carrie likes to read, take pictures, and play with her kids. She also enjoys hearing from her readers, who can write to her at carrie.pulkinen@hotmail.com.

EXCERPT:

This excerpt is from the beginning of Chapter Two.

Run. Get out of here. Adrenaline pumped through Natalie’s system, but fear kept her riveted in place. Light from the bedroom spilled into the hallway and gleamed off broad, bronze shoulders and muscular thighs. The man stood about six foot three. From her vantage point, she noted his tight glutes and ripped biceps, an obvious indication he didn’t neglect his physical health.

Natalie scrambled to find the courage to drag her gaze from his naked torso, up his wide chest, and farther still to his face that appeared like textured marble in the artificial light. She deduced he meant her no harm when he stumbled back against the bathroom doorway, his hands covering his ears.

If he were some crazy person, he’d already be after me. What kind of robber would go around in the middle of a blizzard naked anyway?

Her fright dissipated as she glimpsed his taut jaw set at a stubborn angle. He remained still with his shoulders back and legs spread. He crossed his arms and stared her down, his expression pinched.

A hot, annoyed, naked guy was the last thing she expected to encounter in her cabin. She didn’t know who was more caught off guard. “What the hell are you doing here?” she demanded, taking another step back.

A faint niggling of recognition stirred her brain cells. I can’t be right. Fate can’t so readily be handing me who I’m wanting to see, and in such a nicely presented package.

He pushed his wavy blond hair from his furrowed brow and regarded her from deep, intense blue eyes. “God, am I still dreaming? I thought I was rid of you.”

Dazed, she shook her head. This time, she was wrong. Fate had decided to help her out. This naked hottie was indeed Christopher Reagan. And what was he talking about? He was the intruder. “Um… No, I just got here.” That sounded like an apology. She hardened her voice. “Why are you in my cabin?”

“He’s been waiting for you,” whispered that same voice she’d heard on the porch. This pulled Natalie’s attention from the naked guy. He wasn’t the one who had spoken. To be sure there wasn’t anyone else in the room, she scanned every corner. To her consternation, she found nothing.

I must be going crazy. Or the resident ghost in this place is more active than I’d like.

“Did you just hear something? A voice maybe?” she asked.

He hesitated for a moment, blinking as he gaped at her. “Hear what? You screamed loud enough to burst an eardrum. That’s all I heard.”

Maybe I’m more tired than I think. Hearing voices. Seeing naked men. Is this naked man real? At least he looked real, standing there in the flesh. The very sexy flesh. She struggled not to openly ogle him. He showed no such restraint as he perused her from her tangled, damp hair to her frozen toes, warming her blood.

She turned away from that burning stare. Her heart rate slowed, but her anger rose as she saw the bottles and glasses on the floor and recognized that Reagan, the intruder, had apparently been making full use of her cabin.

She flattened her lips into a hard snarl. “Who do you think you are? This is my cabin. With this mess,” she swept her arms wide, gesturing to the bottles, “you act like you own the place.”

He tilted his head in that arrogant way that sent familiarity slamming through her. She’d seen that look before and hated it now as she had then. “I do own this place. Rather, my family does. I’m Christopher Reagan, and this is my uncle’s cabin.”

She had yet to observe a look of acknowledgement in his eyes, though she’d rather pretend she hadn’t recognized Reagan at all. She’d traveled all this way to see him, but not unclothed and in her cabin. There was only so much of the man she could handle.

This excerpt is from the beginning of Chapter Five.

Natalie shook her head. “I’m not up for any tournaments tonight. The trip here fried my brain and discombobulated my nerves. I’ll never be the same again.”

“Oh, come on. How about a quick game? Every goddess has to learn to be a good loser.”

“Goddesses need sleep. I’ll need to be completely rested before I accept any challenges. And then you’re the one who’ll need the extra rest since I’ll cream you in your particular game of choice.”

Chris couldn’t help but taunt, “You’re too tired to play a short game of Scrabble, princess? Just one little game?”

She moved closer and stared him down. He knew Natalie hated being confronted, but he loved goading her. “It’s just a stupid board game. Are you that bored?”

“Yes. This evening has been particularly unamusing,” he replied drolly. Sparring with her was more fun than vegging out in front of his plasma TV. If he were being honest, he was glad to have company, even if she wasn’t his first choice. “But I understand,” he complied. “Princesses are easily worn out. They pass their days primping and spending all their money.” He looked down at her un-chipped nails painted with the colors of the holidays. “They waste so much energy doing silly tasks, like their nails.”

“You think I’m spoiled?”

“Could be.”

“My nails aren’t so nice. See?” She raked them down his arm. She wasn’t playful about it, exerting enough pressure to leave red marks on his skin.

“Do you always result to assault to get your point across, princess?” He seized her hand in his, containing her fingers.

Her hand squirmed, the fragile bones under the soft skin flexing in his hold. He held fast. “I find physical contact works best when talking becomes a moot, wasteful pastime,” she said, her eyes flashing bright. “Especially when one’s opponent’s skull won’t crack with one hit to the head. Sometimes they need several hard thunks to dent their stubborn skulls.”

Good, she thinks me an obstinate, selfish bastard. Just what I want. “Ah, so you love scratching me up, princess?”

“Could be. You’re lucky they’re not as deadly as they were a few days ago. If I were truly spoiled, I wouldn’t want to get my hands dirty. I spend as many hours at the office as you.” She tugged her hands from his and tapped her index finger against his manicured nails. “Maybe even more. Could be you’re the spoiled little prince. Look at those buffed nails and perfect cuticles,” she mocked. “My my, your royal high ass, how masculine they are.”

It was his turn to yank his hand away. She made him sound like a sissy with a superiority complex. “I don’t need to get my hands dirty. I’ve been through that stage. My company can run itself,” he shot back. “Can’t be easy being you when you can’t enjoy the fruits of all your hard labor.”

“Getting your hands dirty keeps you on your toes. I spend long hours coming up with new solutions for my company. Guess you love your golf game more, huh?”

“Very cute, princess.”

“What…the little prince doesn’t want to play a game now?” she reproached. “We just did. Cat scratch fever, and I won.” She waggled her fingers over his arm. “How’s it feel to lose, your royal high ass?”

“Thought you needed sleep. You’ve been fooling me all evening. You look like you just came off a runway.”

Chris was an expert at melting the panties off willing women. But as much as he wanted Natalie, he knew he wouldn’t get closer with the normal, boring, insincere pickup lines. That line wasn’t the usual for him. He’d actually meant it. Despite the bags of exhaustion under her eyes and the stress tensing her shoulders, she was beautiful. Not in the made-up, fake, enhanced way women he was used to associating with were. Her beauty was more natural and earthy.

Natalie’s combined snort and burst of laughter sent warmth sprinting through him. It wasn’t a fake I’m-laughing-to-appease-you kind of chuckle, but an honest-to-God from-the-gut hoot. “Oh, Reagan, you’re outdoing yourself. I look like hell and I know it.”

“No, really. From where I’m sitting, hell looks pretty great.”

Her kick from under the blanket couldn’t hurt a flea, but he pushed back all the same. Their feet became entangled under the quilt, her body heat seeping under his skin. “Stop it, Reagan. You’re flattery’s killing me.”

“Let’s do away with the formalities once and for all, Natalie. You saw me naked as the day I was born. That takes us to first names automatically in my book.”

“Okay then, Chris.”

He liked how his name rolled off her tongue like a sip of fine port.

“I think I’m going to turn in though. I’ve had a long day.”

The combined temperature from the fire and their bodies settled him and did away with the rest of his hangover. There was a part of him that didn’t want her to leave him since he’d be alone again. Her sweetness temporarily did away with his despair, and for a moment, Chris basked in the feeling of contentment. “I should turn in too,” he agreed, distracted as his gaze fixated on her mouth, yet he didn’t move to rise from the love seat.

Don’t go all soft where she’s concerned, Reagan. So what, you want to kiss her. It would be just one little, harmless kiss. Just like sex is sex. Stop reading more in to it.

BOOK TRAILER:

When we were writing Claimed By Dragons music played a big part and we want to share a few of favorites with you today.

Amber Skyze: Music and Writing Are One Since a child I’ve connected to music on many different levels. I love all different types, but lean more towards Rock/Heavy Metal. I listen to music more than I watch television. My CD collection is large and my iPod diverse.

Music plays a huge part in my writing too. I hear a song and picture a story. Not the full story, but a general theme. Sometimes it’s only the title that strikes an idea for a story, but normally it’s the lyrics.

Take for instance Dante’s Desire, published with Ellora’s Cave. I wrote this story after hearing the song I Get Off, by Halestorm.  It’s about someone getting off watching another get off. I knew I had to write Dante’s Desire. The book starts with Addison, the heroine, performing sexual acts in her window for her sexy neighbor across the street.

Another Ellora’s Cave book – Spend The Night With Me, is loosely attached to a song. The song Need You Now, by Lady Antebellum starts off talking about scattered pictures. The image struck a chord with me (no pun intended). This book starts with my heroine Brooke looking at pictures of her now deceased fiancé. After hearing this song, I changed part of the scene to her sitting on the floor with pictures scattered around her. She’s packing them away to move forward with her life.

Sometimes my heroes are musicians like Reed Walker in Body Shots, available from Ellora’s Cave. He’s a singer and guitar player. His band plays at the heroines bar. Reed signs a song he’d written for the heroine many years prior, weakening her defenses.

Those are just a few examples of how I weave my love for music into my writing life. Is there anything that plays a big role in your life?

Katalina Leon: I have to listen to music when I write, it’ not an option, it’s a must! I prefer moody instrumental soundtracks when I’m actually writing, but I listen to and love all this stuff too, whenever I need a little break.

EXCERPT:

(In this scene Jael has pulled a stone from Witch Casey’s wish bag and had her fortune told by a wriggly snake, now she has to sit still for a moment and reflect on her love life.)

Jael closed her fingers around the stone and thought of another man who worked with her—Kypton. Kypton was quiet and aloof with most everyone in the department, but his gaze followed her longingly every time she walked past.

When she told her friends she liked the manager of the IT department, they teased her relentlessly. They couldn’t picture her with a computer geek. Thing was, Kypton was the furthest thing from a computer geek. She understood why they immediately thought of someone with glasses, a shirt buttoned up tight to the neck, and a pocket protector sticking out of his shirt pocket. That wasn’t Kypton.

What her friends and others in her office seemed to miss was that beneath the subdued exterior, Kypton was smoking hot with pale blond hair and baby blue eyes. His voice carried the softest hint of northern Europe. He pronounced e’s as a’s, and she wondered if Kypton had gone to school in Switzerland or lived near there as a child.

Occasionally she was fortunate enough to peek down his collar and glimpse the silky blond hair on his chest. His broad shoulders and well-defined chest stood out in anything he wore. His arms looked like he frequented the gym, and those fitted khakis he favored as office wear gave her a view of a sexy, tight ass. A hint of smoldering physicality simmered just below the surface as if he were completely capable of picking her up, carrying her into a quiet storage room, and banging her senseless. At least that was what she hoped. She concluded the other women in her office must be blind or foolish not to notice Kypton’s potential. Kypton seemed thoughtful and sensitive too, which was a huge plus. He’d jumped in to help her on numerous occasions, often staying late at work to do so. He also avoided all office gossip or conflicts and went out of his way to help others before he was even asked, which she found pretty damn attractive.

All in all Kypton was a dreamy guy, even if he might appear a bit sedate.

Only problem was Roarke attracted her too.

Roarke was Kypton’s opposite. Roarke was outgoing and authoritative. When he entered the room, others stopped what they were doing to listen. Though he was a manager, he had an artistic, wild vibe about him that was exciting to be near. He dressed well in bold colors like earthy orange or rich purple. It was a treat to watch him walk past her desk and catch a whiff of his subtle citrusy aftershave—that was, if he ever really shaved. His square jaw seemed perpetually stubbled in a grainy, sexy sort of way.

Roarke had coppery skin and the swarthy good looks of a Barbary pirate chief. She half fantasized he was the son of some powerful khan and his mother was some delicate-boned beauty. Roarke was both puzzling and stunning to look at. His sleek nose and chiseled bone structure made his origins difficult to guess. She wondered if there was a tribe of exotically perfect people hiding somewhere on a long-forgotten island, who sneaked away from their hidden paradise now and then to work as office managers.

As a natural leader, Roarke drew people to his side with ease. He spoke passionately with his expressive hands and cognac-brown eyes as much as he did with words. Anything earthy and creative interested him—nature, movies, paintings, or books, he loved them all. His apartment contained a dazzling array of fine books and an impressive collection of beautiful artifacts displayed in lit niches.

A visit to his apartment was not only a physical thrill; it was mentally stimulating to the artist in her to look at the many things he’d collected over the years. Roarke seemed to live in such a different world from the average person, and she longed be to invited in.

Roarke worked as a manager in the human resource department of International Explorer magazine and network. He was well respected and very much in demand.

She’d foolishly told Roarke on the first date she had no intention of getting involved with a coworker, so maybe some of the distance between them was her fault. She wanted to take it back. What a dummy she was for saying that.

That wasn’t to say nothing had happened between them. It had. Twice after a dreamy museum date or trip to the movies on Roarke’s birthday, the date had ended with both of them unable to keep their hands off each other.

Roarke had picked her up, carried her into his bedroom, tossed her onto his amethyst sheets, and lavished her with the best oral she’d ever had. Roarke was a total sensualist and seemed to know exactly what she needed to come hard. She’d loved every second of writhing in his firm but loving grasp and was eager to reciprocate.

She just wasn’t sure where she stood with him. A date once in a while was for chumps. Maybe he was waiting for her to admit that she did want to get involved with a coworker before pursuing her a little harder.

“Never underestimate the power of love.” Witch Casey winked as she popped the captured snake back into the basket.

Jael turned her attention to the woman standing in front of her. Had she been reading Jael’s mind?

“Your dilemma will not be hard to decide. You already know exactly what you want, and you don’t have to choose.”

Jael’s eyes widened.

Dear God, she can read my mind. I wonder if she saw the naughty thoughts?

“I did, dear.” Witch Casey shrugged. “But your secrets are safe with me. Besides, no one believes me anyway.”

(Jael’s life gets crazy fast, when she returns to work to face Roarke and Kypton with the wish stone in her pocket.)

Author Bio Amber Skyze:

From a very young age, Amber Skyze began making up stories–the only child syndrome. Telling tall tales to all her friends she never dreamed of putting words on paper. In fact if anyone asked her if she would write when she grew up, she’d have laughed.

It wasn’t until raising children and reading all those romances that she decided–hey, I can write these. HA! Easier said than done.

When not crafting hot, steamy tales, this New York transplant now resides in Rhode Island with her husband, four children (who force her to work a day job), and three dogs.

She currently writes for Ellora’s Cave, Loose Id and is self-published.
