Flash Fiction #9

The light burned her swollen eyes. She forced her tender feet to keep moving. Her future was at the end of the pier.

The war had found them today. It tore apart their peaceful existing once again, but the destruction would not be complete. She would find Eric again, a few more yards, almost there. The sounds of a bitter fight reached her ears and gun shots rang out.

Fear filled her heart. The last of her energy stores ripped through her cold muscles.

I’m coming. Hold on, Eric.”

She arrived finding him standing over the last monster, for today.

Their little brother was tiny. Hard to believe mom had carried two this size. He smiled at his twin. Little Nathan was no less a miracle. Mom and dad were still grinning like teenagers over their newest son. None of them could have guessed this outcome.

When the brothers were five their dad had a freak accident that stole his memories and shortly after he disappeared. Nine-months ago mom announced she found dad and he had his memories back. They didn’t like thinking about where dad had been.

The love birds wasted no time, evidenced by Nathan. Their love survived.

“I’ll give you all one more reason why she’s perfect for our new ad campaign.”

“Dillon, we all agree she’s beautiful.”

His ex-wife hadn’t talked to him in six-months. He didn’t care if he bored them to death. He would get her hired.

“Do you see right here? In this shot her eyes express longing and that’s exactly what—”

“What, Dillon? What do you think she’s longing for now?”

Dillon had no words. His brain couldn’t wrap around the idea popping in his head. She longed for someone else… not him. His heart cracked open.

He’d already lost her.

Flash Fiction #6

Thanks for stopping by for my 100.

She was running out of time. The last thing she wanted was another day on this assignment. Working in her knickers for this dominate guy was rubbing her the wrong way. Each reason surprised her.

The agency expected her to find proof of illegal dealings. She was finding nothing except feelings of desire and respect. None of the things the agency or she wanted.

She didn’t want to be found searching his couch. He may stop trusting her and that would…hurt. She tripped over a section and fell.

“Shit”

His footsteps whispered across the carpet by the door.

“Double shit”

Flash Fiction #5

Thanks for stopping by for my 100.

Through the crowed market she watched Jamison make his move. This time he thankfully had his brother with him. Desperation to uncover their assignment drove her. Once her hands were over her eyes she lost sight of them, but her eyes began amplifying her hearing.

“Why are we setting the device at Miller’s creek?”

“It will cause the required commotion without hurting her family.”

She forced her hands to remain still.

“She’s never going to forgive you, you know that, right?”

“I know, but I will always protect her and what she loves.”

Tears leaked from her eyes. “Oh Jamison.”

“Eric, I thought your mom was going to hate me?” His ribs still hurt from the bear hug he received an hour ago.

“I know, Justin. I can hardly believe her reaction myself.”

“Is she really going to throw us a big wedding?”

“My guess is yes. These engagement pictures are only her warm-up.”

“Aren’t you going to tell her we’re already married?” It felt odd to take off the ring he’d been wearing for the last year, but he was thankful for the tan line.

“Ah, no. And I’m not telling her about the little girl we’re adopting either.”

Her latest assignment made for a typical Friday, except the man behind the camera. Eric was her crush and until now he’d never been her photographer. She stared into his lens trying to keep her mind from his body. Warmth pooled in her center causing her hips to flex. Embarrassment flared heating her face.

“Keep that thought going, Rach.” He lowered the camera and stalked toward her. His hand griped her thigh and crept to her hip. She rose, exposing herself and met his dark eyes.

“Eric—“

He grabbed her nape, lowered his lips, and claimed all of her.

“You’ll look good in whatever you decide to wear, Angie.” His roommate was gorgeous, but it was her heart that healed his soul and made him fall in love with her. Too bad he could never tell her.

“That’s easy for you to say, Jack. I mean would you look at you?”

She stood there half dressed with concern evident in her dazzling eyes. “What?”

“When are you going to start dating? James and Liz left us over a year ago. At least I’m trying to move on, I think you should too.”

“Angie, I’m fine right where I am.”

John seized Sean’s neck and their eyes locked. Pent up anger would loosen its hold over Sean if they stayed connected. Nothing about their relationship was easy except these stolen moments in the woods. John took in the rage which threatened to overtake Sean. A tentative caress would be the sign Sean was released from the anger’s hold and John yearned for the touch. Sean’s blue eyes darkened, it was starting to work. The connection stole his energy, but it would return with Sean’s first touch. The Seconds continued to tick by, but John would wait, he would always wait.
