Flash Fiction #9

Thanks for stopping. Another picture…another 100 words

The light burned her swollen eyes. She forced her tender feet to keep moving. Her future was at the end of the pier.

The war had found them today. It tore apart their peaceful existing once again, but the destruction would not be complete. She would find Eric again, a few more yards, almost there. The sounds of a bitter fight reached her ears and gun shots rang out.

Fear filled her heart. The last of her energy stores ripped through her cold muscles.

I’m coming. Hold on, Eric.”

She arrived finding him standing over the last monster, for today.

  1. Oh yeah, this is freaky good. We all have monsters who haunt us, figuratively and literally. Was this a Freudian dream, killing a monster – or a real Night of the Living Dead monster? Come back next week to find out. Terrifc

  2. I love how this is left open for interpretation. The monsters can be actual monsters or soldiers of an opposing army the possibilities are endless. Fabulous Flasher!

  3. Well that was a very good twist on this picture. I love your imagination and would love to learn more about the “monsters” in the dark. **shivers**

Whatcha thinking?
