It’s release day! 😀 I’m over the moon excited to share this story with you. It’s my 12th release. Wow. How did that happen? ❤

This time around I’m sharing Aidan’s story. He’s a secretive fella and, until this very moment, he wasn’t ready to meet his one and only. Many times he could have met Elizabeth Martin, but now is the right time, when she and her friends are stumbling out of a taxi and he’s just bought the contract on her life. Oh boy!

My own story of love follows a similar trajectory. Well, not all the killing and suspense. Lol. I met my husband during my senior year of college. But, we grew up 20 minutes from each other. Our parents knew the same people. We went to the same university during the same time, even studied in the same college. But it was never the right time.

I sincerely believe, if I’d met him at any other time, it wouldn’t have turned out the same. Things happen in a certain order. I used to wish I’d met him sooner, but after 16 years of marriage and having our two beautiful boys, I see things happened exactly as they should have.

As for Aidan and Liz, will love prevail or will the danger of his life steal their chance for love?

Aidan turned off the faucet and caught the reflection of those gorgeous brown eyes in the mirror.

“Oops. Wrong door,” said his girl as she turned around.

“I can share.” He could handle the surveillance later. This woman deserved his attention.

She stopped and turned around. “Okay then.” She took a step toward him. “You know what? I should have asked for confirmation earlier.” Her gaze was full of mischief.

“You’re right. You should have asked.” He took a hold of her hand and pulled her close. “I sure would like to see that tiny scrap of lace.” And just like that his night got infinitely better.

She stopped her forward movement when their chests were a mere inch apart. A nice rosy blush heated her cheeks. He kept hold of her hand while her other played with the lapel of his dark leather jacket. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.”

“You need to get back to your friends?”

“Yes, but…” She licked her bottom lip. “Maybe I could stay here for a few minutes.”

“At least a few.” He tapped the bottom of her chin. “How about you start by telling me your name?”

“Liz.” Her gaze met his and he wanted time to stop. Something about the lonely look in her eyes called to him to not let her get away. She shifted closer. “Who are you?”

He pushed his finger over her waistband, rubbing her hipbone. “I’m Aidan.” He squeezed the hand he still held. Her soft body relaxed against his.

“I should probably go. I need to get my friends home.”

“I don’t think you should go anywhere.” He brushed his nose against hers.

“Oh, I’m so sorry, Lizzy.” The woman held the door open. “You’re right. He is cute. Bring him with you. Emily won’t mind.”

“She’ll be right out,” he said. Once the friend left the bathroom, he brushed her hair behind her shoulders and stroked her back.

“I feel like I’m cursed.”

“You and me both, sweetheart.” He didn’t let her go.

“Well.” She looked up at him from under her long, dark lashes. “It’s not what I had in mind but would you help me with my friends?” The soft tone of her voice had him imagining how she’d purr if he made her come. “I think I might be the only one sober and they can be a bit much to wrangle into a cab. They live north in Edgewater and then we could do something, maybe go back to my place.” She worried her poor bottom lip once more.

“I’d like that.” He squeezed her ass. “Sure. I’ll help, Lizzy.” He tugged on her hair. Then he’d help himself to more of her.

Aidan has finished a strategy meeting of sorts and is on his way to rejoin Elizabeth. She’s waiting for him in his apartment.

He ran upstairs and kept moving until he reached his door. Respect for Elizabeth filled him. She’d faced a lot in the last year and she still held her shit together. Little did she know she was trading a husband who probably abandoned her, or worse, for a night with an assassin.

He wouldn’t delude himself into thinking he was good enough for her. There was no way to know how this was all going to play out, but first things first. The woman deserved pleasure and he had no problem taking her there as many times as he could while he figured it out.

He pressed his ear to his door and listened while his heartbeat calmed.

Silence.

Too much silence.

He pushed open the door and slipped inside. He found her standing at the sink, naked as the day she was born, and gazing out his kitchen window at the full moon. Moonlight draped over her pert nipples and down to the top of her perfect soft ass.

He pushed the door shut with some force to announce his entrance.

She turned and peered at him over her shoulder. “Hi.” She toyed with her silky chocolate hair. “You told me to get comfortable.”

I have exciting news to share. Not only do I have a cover to share today, but I can tell you its release date. It’s August 25th! 😀 Also, Tuesday is my 3rd Authorversary. ❤

That’s right. It was three years ago when the first Love Projects Series story released. Taking Chances will always have a special place in my heart. Jake and Lydia took incredible chances and I keep doing the same thing with each story I write.

Unexpected Destiny continues that same journey. Elizabeth and Aidan are stronger and more fearless than they know. Writing their story empowered me. I got swept away by their love and hope you will too. This is my best AND longest story to date. I’m super proud of it and extremely thankful for everyone who helped me get it ready for release.

My next release will be here soon. In fact, I saw the mock up of my cover yesterday. So pretty. 😀

This will be the third book in my Assassins and Sweethearts Series and it tells Aidan’s story.

I’ve backed up a bit in the story. Liz has run from Aidan. She might have had a good reason, but she has no idea about the evil chasing her.

Aidan has just discovered Liz’s whereabouts and is off to find her. Let’s hope he gets there in time.

It took longer than it should have to get down the few floors to his bike. It roared to life on his first try and off he flew. He weaved in and around traffic, wasting too much time keeping everyone else on the road safe. Liz’s life could be in jeopardy. Every minute it took him to get there was too many.

He pulled to the rear entrance to her building and got off his bike. Security measures appeared to be completely missing in the back which pissed him off and pleased him at the same time that there were no hindrances to keep him from her. Just inside the back door was the elevator.

On the ride up, he received a text from Sam. Two men, one with a rather long list of breaking and entering convictions, had entered her building. Aidan guessed at least one of them had torn through Liz’s place last night. So much for the good security she thought her building had. He shifted his weight back and forth and rolled his shoulders.

The second the elevator doors opened, he shot through them. He didn’t stop moving until he got to her front door. With eyes closed, he listened for movement inside. Nothing seemed to be coming from the front room. He’d only gotten a glimpse of it last night but he remembered seeing a piece of a mirror still hanging on the wall that reflected the next room.

He turned the still unlocked handle and pushed into the room. The broken mirror piece hung on the wall where he remembered and showed a dark figure moving about the kitchen.

Maneuvering across the room, into the kitchen, he grabbed a hanging pot on his way, and clocked the intruder across the head. The man fell hard, shaking the whole room. Shuffling from the bedroom had him turning around and blocking a blow from a second man. He took a ruthless jab to the ribs but returned with a shattering upper cut to the man’s jaw. When the man fell, a knife flew from his hand and skidded across the floor.

Aidan blew out a shaky breath. Knifes were often the great equalizer in fights. He had firsthand experience with the damage they could do. He swiped both men with the gel Sam had given him and prayed they woke and led them to some answers. Of course, if either of them had laid a hand on Liz, he’d end their ability to breathe.

Picking up the knife, he set out to find Liz. Each step added a brick to his already heavy chest.

He closed his eyes for a second and returned his thoughts to the mission. A clear head would get her out of this. The apartment needed to be analyzed. It held endless clues about what was really going on here but now was not the time to collect them. Enough was enough. Liz was leaving with him and staying by his side until this mess was over. He’d keep her safe whether she wanted his help or not. No more defense. He wanted back on offense.

Once inside her bedroom, he spotted a bag by her purse on her bed. She was getting ready to run from the evil chasing her. Pride lifted his spirits. He may not like her decision but it was smart.

“Elizabeth.” Be alive. My God, please, Liz. Be alive.

I’ve jumped ahead a bit again. This part takes place in the middle of the story. Liz is recovering in Aidan’s bathtub after a rather scary moment. Hope you enjoy!

Her breathing picked up and she rubbed her chest. She’d had it all wrong. It was Aidan who had saved her not only last night, but today too. Her body lit up with the idea of trusting him completely. He was the one who’d gotten her to forget all her troubles last night. He was the one who’d saved her today. Maybe he really was her hero. Her body lit on fire.

But she’d yelled at him and accused him of all kinds of terrible things. Was he even still here? In an effort to save her life, had she ruined something real? She leaned forward over her knees. The bathwater had turned cold and she knew only one thing could warm her now.

She climbed out of the tub. “Aidan,” she called. Her voice came out brittle. Chilly air floated over her rapidly cooling skin. She grabbed the towel he’d set on the chair for her. Its fluffy warmth doing little to prepare her for what she was about to ask.

The door opened and he appeared. The same deliciously handsome man she’d been with for an entire evening. Damn, she wanted to sink back into that moment, a perfect moment of luscious luxury. She took a step forward and stumbled. In two large steps he was in front of her and he clasped her waist. The heat took her by surprise.

Once her feet were stable, she said, “I’m sorry I ran.” She clutched his shirt and focused on his mouth.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you the truth earlier.” He brushed her dripping hair from her face.

“Oh, Aidan.” She gazed up into his blue eyes and saw everything she’d dreamed of. His strength, worry, and passion swirled together giving her something to cling to.

“Shit. This is pretty dumb of me to invite you up here. For all I know you could be a serial killer.” The elevator opened on her floor and she scooted out ahead of him. Now, her building security felt insufficient. How had she let Sherri and Emily talk her into this? Because she needed this. She really needed this.

“Well, I’m not.”

She turned on a dime and walked backwards toward the stairway. “Not what? You’re not a killer?”

“I’m definitely not a serial killer.”

“Ah.” She snorted and covered her mouth.

“Besides, you did Google me.”

“Well, that no longer seems enough.” She tilted her head and tried to figure him out. “Or am I overthinking again?” She sucked on her bottom lip. Sherri would tell her to listen to her instincts and they were screaming at her to give in to this incredibly handsome man. This is what she’d been looking for. This is what she needed.

They both took a step forward and bumped into each other. His mouth came within an inch of hers and he wrapped his arms around to squeeze her ass.

“I’m here tonight to bring us both incredible pleasures.” He claimed her lips. Strength plundered her mouth and his tongue caressed along hers. He smelled of the night air and something a bit spicy, aftershave maybe. White hot heat coursed through her. Oh yeah, she wanted this.

“Excuse me.”

He turned and found the mostly sober woman from the bachelorette party, flashing her gorgeous brown eyes at him.

“We’re playing a few games tonight.” She tugged at the scarf around her neck, revealing a couple of ugly bruises.

His fist clenched. Beautiful skin shouldn’t be marred by such nastiness.

“Is it okay if I ask you a personal question?”

He forced his gaze back to hers in time to catch the tender vulnerability trapped in her stare. “Ask away.”

“Are you wearing boxers or briefs?” Her quick blush lightened his spirits.

“That’s a question I can’t answer.” He took a sip of his beer.

“Is that so?” She captured him with her enticing smile.

He leaned in. “I’m not wearing either.”

She looked down and her eyebrows rose. “Oh.” She bit her lip.

“Now, tell me what you’re wearing.”

She leaned in and whispered, “A tiny scrap of lace.”

Her friends hollered and she hurried back to her table. Nothing like a beautiful woman to warm his mood. He hoped to think about that scrap of lace for the rest of the night and what it rubbed against, but he worried he’d be thinking about the bruises and the shit who put them there.
