Divine’s Blurb:
Matt Carson and Trina Lovett befriend each other during turbulent times at a young age. Over the years, their friendship strengthens building a strong, unbreakable bond. At least that is what they believe. Life choices put an ocean between them, and the depth of their bond is tested.
Under the stress of being apart, heart-wrenching events leave them plagued with doubt. Danger forces them to make irrefutable decisions about what they want from life.

Divine’s Book Trailer:

Divine Excerpt:
“You’re a sight.” Matt’s face brightened, his grin infectious.

Trina wanted to rush into his arms but refrained, afraid any moment Cal would show.

“Man, you’re beautiful,” he said, his tone left no room to doubt his sincerity.

Her mouth watered and her head whirred. Matt was hot. He’d always been, but he’d filled out even more. His youthful features hardened into a man, a warrior, one that could protect and could do so at any moment. She drooled.

He sent her the kind of appreciative glance a guy gave a woman he held in admiration, not necessarily by her beauty but for what he felt. Tingles raced over her body and forced her feet to move. He engulfed her into a bear hug. A hug so tight she didn’t think he’d let go. “I’ve missed you,” he said, his whispered voice tight.

Ohmygod! Her pebbled nipples relished against his hardened chest. He didn’t just have a body that would do any poster justice. No, it was Matt, her Matt. She slid her hands around him further, squeezed tighter. “I’ve missed you so much!”

His chuckle vibrated her breasts, her hands. The smart move would be to step back before they became any more of a spectacle. She brushed a kiss to his jaw, ready to accept it may have to be enough, when his lips captured hers. His taste and scent filled her senses. She leaned into the kiss, her body ready to shatter. His tongue slid into her mouth. Like the night by the river, the time she didn’t act on what her body craved. Her panties moistened.

“Are you wearing anything?” he whispered next to her ear and his hands sliding down over her backside.

The last time she saw him, he’d asked her not to wear any next time. That had been four years ago. “If I’d known I would see you, I wouldn’t have.” What am I doing? She pulled her lips inward, tried to keep the panic from registering on her face, and eased away.

Matt tugged her chair out, and she returned to her seat. She cradled her phone in her left hand, hiding the band of the engagement ring.

The server placed Trina’s drink on the table and turned to Matt. Alarm etched in Tiffany’s face, and she shot her a judgmental squint before asking, “May I get you something?

“I’m good. Thanks. I don’t expect we’ll be staying long,” he said to her, and the server stepped away.

What to say? He needed to leave five minutes ago. “Um, I’m not sure what Bradley said, but I have—”

“He mentioned an appointment. Can you cancel? I don’t have much leave.”

“I can’t.”

He lifted her right hand from the table and placed it in his. With feather-like strokes, he brushed his fingers across her skin. “I want to get naked with you.”

She squeaked out a noise, sounding like a whimpering puppy. “I want the same, but I have to—”

“What’s this?” a deep voice boomed.

She covered her mouth to stop the rising bile from escaping.

“Why do you have your hands on my fiancé?” Cal, wearing dress pants and a designer shirt, glared at Matt.

Her stomach lurched. The contents from her belly splattered on Cal’s handcrafted, Italian dress shoes.

New Release! Girl Code Anthology by Cait Jarrod, D.C. Stone, Jessica Jayne, and Lea Bronsen

Hi everyone!

I have a theme in the books I write: Friendships, deep-seeded ones that stay with you for a lifetime. I have a group of friends I get together with at least once a month. Some of these ladies, I’ve known for over forty years. Simply amazing. How about you? Do you have friendships that have stayed with you for the long stretch?

Below are some shared memories and a giveaway!

Happy reading!

~Cait

GIRL CODE: an anthology

girlcode-customdesign-jayAheer2015-complete (17MB)

All proceeds from sales are going to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Introduction by Julie Ann Walker.

Girl Code blurb:

Four best friends struggle with decisions that affect their lives, their hearts, and their futures. As sisters, they embrace the Girl Code.

HOPE
Josephine “Joey” Lockhart escapes her past, herself and her home town of Pearl, Ohio to Florida after high school. Years later, she meets a man that refuses to let her hide behind her camera lens and encourages her out of her shell. Will he be the one to push her to feel for the first time?

LIVE
After seven years in drug hell, detoxing Juliette “Juls” Carrington returns to her hometown Pearl to attend her grandmother’s burial. Once more rejected by her family, she has a swim in a pond nearby when a mysterious camper, an ex-drunk, coaxes her to come to his hut in the woods. Together they must fight their inner demons for a chance to love…and live.

FAITH
Selena Bodine escaped into the United States Air Force to leave behind a painful past and the one man who she refused to let herself love. Years later, an urgent call from her father brings her back to Pearl, Ohio and face to face with the man she still loves. But will the secret that Cullen is investigating her threaten their second chance?

PERSISTENCE
Laydi Michaels has been running away from her past and bad memories for years. Finding herself wasn’t an easy task, but she’s managed to finally get to a point to where she wants to be. Only to wake up married to her boss….who fired her the night before. Wrapped in a case that puts her life in danger, and dealing with a grave situation back home in Pearl, Laydi figures out she wasn’t close to finding herself, and now, she’s risked everything.

5 star Goodreads review!

It’s not often you read an anthology and truly love every story in it but I really did. These four authors are amazing women who I’m sure will continue to give us well written, heart warming, action packed, and steamy love stories for years to come.

FAITH Excerpt:

Selena filled her lungs with country air and the aroma of honeysuckle. The scent blasted her over the edge of nostalgia, to her sisters playing along the pond after a rainstorm. She stopped on the sidewalk before crossing the road.

Joey had her hands buried in the bank, making mud pies. The thought of dirt burrowing under Selena’s nails irritated her as much as nails dragging across a chalkboard, but she’d jumped right in so her new friend didn’t play alone. Juls and Laydi joined them. It didn’t take long for brown-reddish splotches to cover them from head to toe. They had laughed so hard. Life was rough, their home lives not worth talking about, yet they giggled.

Nothing else meant as much to them as each other. She smiled, remembering how they jumped into the pond to get clean. Young, alone, and taking a bath in dirty water, she couldn’t have been happier. That day, she realized, the girls would be in her life for the long haul.

Author bios and contacts:

Cait Jarrod
“I write what I love to read – Romantic Suspense/Mystery- I love writing and creating the meet-cue (the point where the hero and heroine meet) to the blossoming of the romance. Add a suspenseful plot or a good mystery to the equation and the perfect book is born to curl up to and lose yourself in, taking you away from reality, troubles.”

As a child, I entertained myself for hours playing pretend, but not with dolls and such. I created stories and pictured them in my mind, sometimes even acted them out, my well preserved secret until now. I spent years after leaving school trying to figure out my niche. Not being a literary enthusiast, I never thought my childhood pastime would lead in this direction.

In life, one door closes and another opens, so I’m told. This was true for me. I lost my mother, my best friend, to cancer. After a year without her, I picked up her favorite hobby…reading. After one book, a romantic suspense, I was hooked. In the past, I’d fall asleep after a few minutes of reading. Now, books rank up there with a good red wine. It didn’t take long for my childhood muse to come back in adult version urging me to put the scenes in my head on paper.

I hope I have provided you with the escape similar to the ones I conjured in childhood and rediscovered as an adult, and I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I have loved creating them.

Cait’s debut novel, Kidnapped Hearts won awards in the categories of Best Happily Ever After and Best Suspense. Cait lives in Virginia with her husband and three daughters.

Jessica Jayne
My writing interests vary much like my reading interests. Though I mainly write romance type novels with a spicy twist, I have lived what some might call a suspenseful life. As a survivor of stalking and sexual assault, I learned the ins and outs of the legal system pretty quickly. It helped to precipitate my interest in getting my law degree… that and the fact that I grew up around attorneys. So adding suspense to my writing is no big surprise to me or anyone that knows me.”

I am a born and raised small town Ohio girl, who moved to the Sunshine State after graduating from college. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English because I could not imagine doing anything else but reading and writing. It is such a pleasure to be able to share all the stories in my head!

In the journey of life, I got my law degree (and license) and also became a wife and a mother of three children. So, life is always an adventure.

I love to read and write… obviously! I’m a huge sports fan, especially college football and the Ohio State Buckeyes!  Go Steelers!  Go Rays! Go Lightning! I LOVE to travel… LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to travel. And I love sharing my love to travel with my children. Did I say I love to travel? I love to drink coffee in the morning and tea at night! I love a good glass of wine, especially if it comes from a bottle made by the FOOLS wine club… yep, I’m a founding member of that crazy group!  J  I love hanging out with my family and my friends!  Music makes me happy. I’m a mix between country girl and city chic. But I love nothing more than putting on my jean shorts, tank top, cowboy boots and hat and watching Tim McGraw or Eric Church belt it out!  I’m a sucker for a cowboy hat!

Favorite quote:  “If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.”

“I love how well-chosen words can make your heart beat a little faster.”

Lea Bronsen likes her reads fast, hot, and edgy, and strives to give her own stories the same intensity. After venturing into dirty inner-city crime drama with her debut novel Wild Hearted, she divides her writing time between psychological thriller, romantic suspense, and erotic contemporary romance.

 ~THE INTERVIEW~

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing for approximately five years. My first book released in February of 2013.

Can you tell us about some of the challenges or tough decisions you’ve had to make in publishing your books?

Picking a publisher that matches my needs the best was the hardest decision, especially with the release of my first book. I didn’t know what I needed or wanted.

I hear you there. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I certainly got lucky with Evernight. Can you tell us about a criticism you’ve received that pushed you into a better writing place?

Yes, I was fortunate to win a critique from Madeline Hunter. She tore it up, told me my scenes were too long, amongst other comments. It stung, but after a day or two of thinking about it, I went on a mission to learn more. Thanks to her, I’ve taken advance-writing classes and now feel I have a better grasp on some of my weaker areas.

That’s amazing. I know some of my biggest growth as a writer came after harsh criticism. Once I could see past the sting, I was able to really see where I needed to go. What is the most surprising thing you discovered while writing your book(s)?

*snickers* That I could write a novel and love it.

Lol! What is the one thing you do after finishing a story?

Smile.

😀 Tell us a bit about the projects you are working on now?

I just sent my manuscript, Faith-a story in the Girl Code anthology, to my editor.

A little bit about Faith:

Selena Bodine returns to rural Pearl, Ohio, after receiving a frantic phone call from her father. Years had passed since she made her escape into the United States Air Force to leave behind the physical abandonment of her mother, the emotional neglect of her father, and the one man who she refused to let herself love.

Responsibility and honor are the traits former Secret Service agent, Cullen Wilson, lives by. When he finds himself going against his integrity for money to help his brother, his world flips on its axis. Still, the world flipping wasn’t the worst. Locating the woman who jilted him years ago sends him into a whirlwind of angst, love, and hope.

The question is, will Cullen have the strength and patience to wait for Selena to realize she does have Faith in him?

Currently, I’m working on the sequel to Faith, Matt’s story. He’s Cullen’s brother in Faith.

Excerpt:

A single gunshot echoed in the night.
An invisible death-grip tightened his throat. The road and buildings warped. Sound faded. Cole’s fear came to fruition, the worst moment of his life.
He needed eyes on Dina now!
Cole forced his legs to move faster into the darkness. The small amount of glow, seeping around the trailer from the junker’s headlights, gave him a visual to the only other intact car, parked next to the overturned truck.
The cloud pattern shifted and the moon brightened the darkened sky. Beyond the downed trailer, demolished truck, past the crinkled unmarked car, hope soared, clenching Cole’s heart and stealing his breath. He stopped and stared, not sure if he could believe his eyes.
The moon spotlighted Dina standing in the middle of the wreckage, staring at the road, her body shaking. Fright and pain visible in her profile felt like a bullet to his chest, forcing the wind out of his lungs and weakening his muscles.
Her gaze left whatever caught her attention and she peered over her shoulder. Their eyes locked. In that moment of time, no one else existed, not the swirling bright blue and red lights approaching or the loud sirens demanding attention.
Too afraid if he ran, his legs would give out from the overwhelming emotions, he walked toward her.
Not moving her gaze from his, she pulled her lips inward and wiped a hand across her face. She’d been through so much. Instinctively, he wanted to pull her to him, feel her warmth against his chest. Afraid sudden movement might scare her, he tempered his urge and stopped in front of her. “Awe, babe.” He stroked a finger down her cheek and searched her face.
Tears welled in her eyes, and something more frightening smeared across her skin—a reddish-brown color—blood

Inspiration for the Band of Friends series by Cait Jarrod

Please help me welcome Cait Jarrod. She’s here sharing from her brand new release, the 2nd book in her Band of Friends series, Mystic Hearts. First up, Cait is going to share her inspiration for the series. Welcome, Cait! 😀

________________

I’ve often been asked why I chose a circle of friends to write about for my first series.

Bringing a new story about the tight knit group of friends from Fredericksburg, Virginia, was like coming home, especially since I’ve lived in the area all my life. The friends I’ve made over the years, and have continued to keep in touch with, are much like the people in this book—minus the bombs and gunfights. Instead of a weekly cocktail hour, we get together at least once month at a winery, brewery or the lake.

MysticHearts-evernightpublishing-smallpreviewNothing is as it seems….

Temptation landed at Special Agent Larry Newman’s feet—literally. Charlene Smith captured his heart after he rescued her from terrorists two months ago. A failed relationship and being an abused child have turned him into a loner and workaholic. The scars weigh heavy on him and keep him from pursuing her. So what’s a guy to do when the woman he pines for passes out in front of him while working a case?

Battling psychological wounds from abduction is easier than coming face to face with the sexy FBI agent she’s fantasized about for months. A single mother, avoiding the drama that dating would bring to her son’s life, she allows Larry close only in her dreams. Now, she’s second-guessing her decision. Should she have a relationship with this man who makes her feel alive just by being close?

As the couple forges into an abyss of emotions, they plow through secrets and criminals, and fight for the one thing that’s worth fighting for—each other.

Here’s an excerpt from a Cocktail hour, just before the guys arrive. The things good friends say to one another….

“I figured you’d be uptight and would need to blow off steam,” Celine said around a mouthful of margarita.

“Nope. I’m declaring Cocktail Hour an Andrew-free zone,” Charlene said.

Celine choked. “You had sex!”

“Shush!” Pamela’s eyebrows slashed over her blue fierce eyes. “This is a PG establishment.”

“Sorry,” Celine said with a small, mortified smile.

Pamela gazed over her shoulder into the café.

No one watched them except for the bartender. He eyed Celine.

“No foul,” Pamela said then faced Charlene. “Fess up, you have.”

“How’d you two get the idea I had sex from me not wanting to talk about Andrew?”

Celine and Pamela exchanged a silent conspirator glance.

Oh, boy. So, much for wondering if she should talk about Larry, they’d do it for her.

“Larry?” Pamela’s normally welcoming smile transformed into calm tone and she arched an eyebrow at Charlene.

If she hadn’t known Pamela, she’d actually have been nervous and answered immediately. As it was, Charlene would use this time to collect her thoughts and work out what to say. Hanging out on the pier, her and Larry chatting with one another in a way that was so comfortable she felt like she’d done it forever. Well, until her mouth ran away from her and confided her feelings. After that, things between them had become awkward.

Her mind jumped to the kiss next to her mom’s car…phew…she fanned herself and sipped more of her drink to camouflage the heat rising from her body to her face.

“That does it.” Celine gulped her drink. “I want some of what Charlene’s having.”

“Oh, no. You can’t. We’re exclusive.” Charlene looked at her half-empty drink. “This stuff is like truth serum.”
