S.J. Maylee’s 2nd Authorversary and Coming Soon News!

Today is my 2nd authorversary!! Aw! two years ago today my debut hit the virtual shelves. Taking Chances will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s not just the way Jake and Lydia took chances but it’s how perfect they are for each other. In them, I found lasting love. In them, I found a career I could love and I’ll always be grateful.

In the last two years, I’ve had a total of NINE releases. OMG! Plus, just a few weeks ago, I signed a contract with Evernight Publishing for my TENTH release. Wahoooo!!!!!

So, what’s next?

I can only hope there are an endless number of releases ahead of me. I absolutely adore creating characters and experiencing the way they fall in love. You could say it’s an addiction. 🙂

Top priority will be writing more stories for my Love Projects Series and Assassins and Sweethearts Series. Also, I’ll be self-publishing a brand new series. Common Grounds is the first book. It will release on its own after the Just Desserts Collection is pulled from the shelves in just over a month.

I hope to attend more book conventions and meet many more readers. Like Lori Foster’s Reader and Author Get Together where I hope to attend again next year. I’ll be at the Great Lakes Book Bash on October 10, 2015. I won’t be signing books but I’ll have swag with me. “Shit, Nadia, I haven’t stopped thinking about you since the first day at the windows.” He let her go and pulled out of her reach to slip around to the other side of the couch with his back to her. “I want things from you that I’m certain would frighten you.”

“I doubt that.” Knowing she had to make her move now or risk losing him forever, she pulled her shirt over her head and tugged off her sweatpants, tossing them both on the chair. “Do you remember the questions I asked about you before we met?”

“You’re playing with fire.”

Rob’s day was turning around, a date with a pretty girl and possibly a new job, not bad for a Monday. No, it wasn’t a date, more like a business meeting. It didn’t mean he wasn’t going to enjoy the company.

His luck must still be running on high from the first fantastic weekend he’d had in months. After all the dates Mistress Charlie had sent him on, the only gal who’d stayed on his mind was the one he hadn’t even dated.

After meeting Jane at the convention, he’d decided to finally take off his wedding ring. It was about time his deprivation ended. His relationship with Gina was over a long time before they’d even filed. Giving up on what he swore would be a lifetime commitment bothered him, and continuing to wear the ring had felt like his punishment.

He may not have wrecked their marriage, but he did need to find a way to move past the rubble. His weekend adventure reminded him he still had a life of his own to rebuild.

His request for privacy didn’t surprise her. It was the one thing she knew well about him. There were some things he just didn’t share and at the moment she no longer cared to know the reasons. She wanted to spend time with him for as long as she could.

“I wish we had the time to do it all over again.”

“Our time is almost up?” she asked.

“It will be all too soon. I’d like to lie here with you in my arms for as long as I can.”

The music came back, but it was altogether different. The rhythm was gentler and the volume was considerably lower, which made it easier to talk, if you had something to talk about. She knew she’d regret not saying anything. In this moment, she needed him to know how he’d affected her.

“I touch you all the time.” He angled his head, allowing her to come a little closer.

Today’s Tease I’ve skipped forward to a different scene. Jake is defending his lady love, Lydia, from Gina. Marcus is about to step in and take over where Jake left off. Enjoy!

“What the hell is wrong with you?” Jake took a step towards Gina.

Once Lydia tugged Jake out of the room, everyone else followed.

“Thanks for getting the monkeys off my back, honey.” She put the spoon she used to stir her coffee in the dishwasher.

“Why do you do that?”

“I didn’t do anything. It’s not my fault Lydia can’t stand up for herself.” She sipped her coffee.

“She shouldn’t have to defend herself to you.”

“No, but she needs to think better of herself.” She placed her mug on the counter and crossed her arms.

“I could say the same to you.”

“I’m not broken.” She charged towards him. “You don’t need to fix me!” She shoved him, then clutched his shirt in both hands. “Do you hear me? I’m not broken.” She shoved against his chest again.

“I’m in your corner.” He wrapped her in his arms. “Don’t push me away.”

“Don’t you see?” She bit her lip. “You’ll do it all on your own. It’s okay. I’m used to it.” She tore out of his grip. “I’m a hard girl to love.”
