Stacey sat near the edge of the cliff, looking out across the lake that held countless memories. Today would have been their first anniversary.  Finally empty of tears, she took in the grandeur of the day. The blue skies stretched far and wide to kiss the edge of the lake. Simply beautiful.

She knew this day would come. When she woke this morning it called to her. He wasn’t coming home.

She closed her eyes, slipped the ring from her finger and tossed it in her purse. Collapsing back onto the grass, she let the memories in, one last time.

  1. Made me wanting to know what happened to him too? Very intriguing and I really like your details of emotions. Very powerful. 🙂 I could feel her pain and sadness.
