“I have nothing more to say.” Julie turned, half hoping Matt would stop her. “I’m heading back to the house.”

“Come on, let’s talk. It took a lot of finagling to get you down here.” Matt grabbed her hand.

“What all did you do?” She pointed to the bucket. “Get Cliff to catch something?”

“What is that anyway, a lobster?”

“No, it’s a crayfish.”

She observed the crustacean sitting at the bottom of the bucket. It had no choices left, unlike her. Matt’s fingers slipped from her hand. She didn’t want to lose him.

“Can we go and observe?”

“Absolutely.”
