New Release! Out With A Bang by Sarah Marsh @SM_fiction

What would you do to make all your wildest fantasies come true?

out-with-a-bang-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2016-banner2

Laura Harper has spent the past five years chickening out of reaching for what she truly wants, but when fate finally lays it out in front of her, will she have the courage to grab on?

Thank you so much for hosting me today to talk a little about my new release, this book started as a little short story fantasy project and I enjoyed these characters so much that I ended up writing more than I intended. How could I not with delicious characters like Grey and Barrett getting all bossy in my head? I do so love it when they get all bossy…. 😉

Out with a Bang is the first contemporary romance story I’ve written so naturally I took it to a place that I’d fantasized about before…the office. Although I have to admit, my previous fantasies didn’t involve a ménage, but they certainly do now! I hope you enjoy these characters as much as I enjoyed writing their journey.

Blurb:

When Laura Harper walked into her interview for Dover and Harding Engineering, she never could have imagined how rewarding it could be to find a place for herself where her organizational skills were relied upon and needed so badly. Sure it didn’t hurt that the two men who had hired her were straight out of her wildest fantasies, but had she let her feelings go too far? Was it just wishful thinking that they might want her in return?

Greyson Harding and Barrett Dover knew the moment that Laura walked into their office that they’d finally found the woman they wanted to share their life with. So they began by hiring the sweet, shy woman and had hoped that they could convince her that their interest was more than a passing attraction. But after five years they’ve finally run out of time and if they aren’t careful, they could lose Laura for good.

Adult Excerpt:

Grey loved the way Laura’s eyes dilated even further at his whispered words, and when she licked her lips, he couldn’t resist any longer. He closed the distance between their mouths and kissed her finally. When her lips opened on a gasp, he pushed forward and took her mouth like he’d been imagining for all these years.

It was sensual, and deep, filled with all the longing he’d been holding back. She tasted just as good as he knew she would have, like strawberries and the wine she’d had with dinner. He pulled back when Barrett let out a groan, knowing that he had to share the bounty of her soft mouth, and when he did, she moaned and tried to follow his retreat. Grey liked that. His cock was already hard enough to hurt, and the little noises of surrender coming from those sweet lips of hers made him ache even more to slide inside of her.

When Barrett leaned forward and took Laura’s mouth in a desperate kiss, Grey moved his attention to the delectable body that he’d been imagining for what felt like eternity. Laura kept herself covered up, but in those sexy skirts, Grey imagining bending her over on just about every surface in the office. Truth be told, it was significantly cutting into his productivity. He thought about fucking her three quarters of the day, and knew that Barrett did the same. Ironically, without her here to keep things running smoothly, their business would have suffered.

He ran his shaking hands down her sides, his thumbs barely grazing the hard nipples he could see through her dress. The dress he had bought her. He really liked the thought that she was wearing what he had chosen for her. He wondered though, what she’d picked to wear underneath it, and as he found the side zipper and slowly lowered it, his pulse was racing at the thought of all that creamy white skin that was now theirs for the taking. When he reached up and undid the clasp of the halter top around her neck, the dress slowly cascaded down her curvy body, revealing bright, red lace that made both men groan in appreciation.

“You’ve been hiding this sexy body from us for too long, baby,” Barrett said with a growl. “I want to touch it all. Grey, let’s see what’s ours.”

“Hey, you already spanked me tonight.” She squirmed as he yanked off her tiny skirt and her panties along with it.

“That spanking only served to clear my head and allow me time to come up with a plan.” He removed her shoes and tossed them over his shoulder. “This spanking is your punishment.” He rubbed her ass.

Oh shit.

“Take off your silly little shirt and your bra too.” He rolled up his sleeves. “I want you naked.”

She got up on her knees and pulled her shirt over her head. After unclipping her bar, she tossed it at him. “What about you?”

“You’re not in a position to make demands.” He snatched her ankle and pulled her down and around until her legs and butt hung off the bed. “Now that’s a beautiful ass.”

Book Description:

Trinity Laker is the tough talking, sexy, lead singer for all girl rock band Moonstone. Broke, emotionally and physically damaged and sometimes homeless she doesn’t have the time or energy for romance of any kind. For her, her world and her future is tied up with the band.

From the moment she steps on stage rich boy Luke Morrison is intrigued by her and knows that he has to have her, no matter what secrets he has to keep to protect both his heart and Trinity’s.

Excerpt

As soon as Luke’s lips touched mine I knew I was a goner. I’d thought of little else but his lips and his kisses and the way he made my insides turn to liquid fire. I didn’t think I’d ever get a chance to feel like that again and now here he was, kissing me again.

I arched against him and moved closer, sliding my hands up his shoulders and into the short strands of hair at the base of his nape. His tongue reached into my mouth and I welcomed it, kissing him deeper. Suddenly I was lifted off the seat by his strong hands at my waist, and found myself straddling his hips. Pain shot through me at his touch, my ribs still sore and tender and I winced pulling away from him.

“What?” He blinked up at me. “Did I hurt you?”

I shook my head and sucked in some quick breathes to get through the pain. “It’s okay. It’s nothing.”

He didn’t believe me, I could see the flicker in his eyes but I distracted him by leaning in to kiss him again. It worked. I felt his hands on my back, roaming from my shoulder blades down over my buttocks where he cupped me and pushed me closer on him. I could feel his arousal through our denims and it only served to inflame me more. My whole body was trembling and I wanted him, wanted to feel him as close as I possibly could.

His lips left mine and traced hot wet kisses down my throat as I arched against him, holding onto his hair, tugging it. His hands slipped beneath my shirt, tracing over my skin and leaving me burning as if his fingertips were on fire. As if I was on fire everywhere he touched me. A sound filled the air and I realized it was me. I was panting and breathless.

“God, Trinity,” he murmured against my throat, “what you do to me.”

Hot New Release! DESK JOB by Lily Harlem @lily_harlem #menage

Desk-Job-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2016-smallpreview-1Hot off the press is Lily Harlem’s latest ménage a trois novel based in London, Desk Job. Her London Menage set of books are taking off, the first one Muscling In has received many 5* reviews and Desk Job is set to do the same. Currently working on the third book in this series, Lily says she never believes three is a crowd, and in her opinion more is definitely merrier!

Here’s the low down on Desk Job, which, incidentally, can be enjoyed as a standalone read, these books are only very loosely connected.

Desk Job

It’s just another PA job, right? Okay, the CEO is hot, and his partner hotter, but that doesn’t mean Stella Wright has to fall for their erotic brand of seduction. Does it?

Who is she kidding? Stella is only human, she has bills to pay and insecurities about how she looks the same as we all do. So when Andre Bramon asks her to work on more than just dictation she can’t resist.

Tristan Wainwright is a different matter. Brooding and dark, he barely has time to ask her to do anything. Then when he does finally pause, noticing her, all that pent up energy reaches a boiling point.

Before long Stella is swept up in a passionate love affair with not one man, but two. She never expected a threesome to be part of her job description, though now…well, perhaps it might prove to be the perfect solution to a whole host of her problems.

Excerpt

“I’m going to apologize in advance for this … but I can’t help myself.”

He ran his hand around the back of my neck, his fingers slotting into my hair, and pulled me closer. He pressed his lips against mine, his tongue sweeping into my mouth as he dragged me to him.

I released a groan of longing. He tasted exactly how I’d imagined—dark heat and man, a hint of coffee.

Releasing my grip on the chair, I grasped his shoulders. Beneath his cotton shirt was hard muscle. Damn, why was that shirt in the way?

He moaned into my mouth as he stroked over the top of my stockings, tracing the lace with his fingertips.

He kissed with the same skill and intensity as he approached his work. I surrendered to it. Allowed him to whisk me up into a heady soup of lust.

Could we? Here?

Fuck.

What am I doing?

I tore my lips from his.

He didn’t stop kissing me and traveled his lips over my cheek to my neck.

“Tristan.”

“Mmm, Stella. You’re so sexy. You’ve got me crazy for you. All week … how you look, talk, hell the way you walk…”

“No…” What about Andre? “But.”

“No, buts. Please, no buts.” He cupped my cheek and looked into my eyes.

“I’m sorry.” I pushed at his shoulders and tore my gaze from his. “I can’t.”

He tugged his hand free of my skirt and stood, releasing me. A flash of disappointment went over his face and I couldn’t help noticing a large bulge behind his zipper.

“Forgive me.” I stood, and in a strange, limping gate, rushed to the ladies’ restroom. I pushed through the door, then stood at the sink, staring into the mirror at my smudged lipstick.

My mind was swimming. What the hell was going on with me? I was a one-man woman. I never cheated. I didn’t two-time. That wasn’t who I was.

But Andre and I were hardly in a relationship. We’d had a night of fun. We were going for lunch tomorrow.

It was the start of something.
But I wanted to start something with Tristan too.
I liked him, more than liked him. I wanted him. I wanted his body, I wanted his mind, I wanted the special smiles that he seemed to save just for me.

“Stella. Please, come out.”

I glanced at the door. Tristan had opened it a fraction, though I couldn’t see him and he couldn’t see me because it opened in the opposite direction.

I didn’t answer.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me.”

“It’s not your fault.” I reached for a tissue and tidied my  smudged lipstick.

“Clearly it is. Please, come out here and let’s talk this through. I can explain.” “Explain?”

“Yes.”

I ran the cold water and put my wrists under the flow. It was as if a fire were burning inside of me.

“I promise you, Stella, there really is no reason to be so upset.”

“How do you know?”

“I just do.”
I turned off the water. He knew nothing.

“Please … otherwise I’ll come in there and get you.”

I didn’t doubt it.

I went to the door. As I reached it, my broken shoe emerged around the small opening. The heel appeared reattached.

“I fixed it.”

“That was quick.”

“I’m known for efficiency.”

Of course he is.
I took it and, with one palm placed on the wall, slipped the  shoe back on.

“It probably won’t hold for long. But it will get you home,” he said.

I opened the door fully.

Tristan had one hand against the frame, his elbow locked. When he saw me, he released it and straightened.

“Thank you.” I stepped past him. “For fixing my shoe.”

“Stella, let me explain.” He gripped my upper arm and spun me to him, not roughly but not completely gently either.

My breath hitched as I looked into his earnest face.

“There is nothing to explain, Tristan. I like you, really I do…” And yes, given the chance I’d roll into bed with him in a heartbeat. He was someone I wanted to get to know better in every sense of the word, much better. “But I’m seeing someone.”

His eyebrows twitched, then he nodded. “I know.”

“How … But…?”

“Andre.” He kind of shrugged then released my arm. “It’s not a big deal.”

“How can it not be a big deal? He’s your business partner.” Damn, had Andre told him everything, the way I’d wondered if he had?

“He’s more than a business partner. He’s my best friend. We’ve been through the good and the bad times together and you…”

“Me?”

“We’d definitely like you to be the good times.”

“I’m not following…” I patted my hair, it was messy at the back from where he’d ran his fingers through it. “Why did you kiss me if you knew I was seeing Andre?”

“Because I know he won’t mind, not in the least.”

“How do you know that?” Most blokes I knew would mind very much if another guy kissed the girl they were seeing. “Is he missing the jealousy gene?”

Tristan gave a twisted smile. “Oh no. I can’t imagine he’d want anyone else touching you, kissing you, but me … well that’s different.”

“How? Because you’re friends, because you’re close?”

“That and…”

“And what?”

“Well…” He shifted from one foot to the other. “We decided a while ago that we needed a personal assistant to share, one person who understood what the other was doing so that our diaries and commitments didn’t clash.”

I nodded. I understood that.

“And we also decided…” He hesitated.

I wondered what the hell he was going to say next. I hadn’t known Tristan to be anything other than super confident but he was standing before me now, slowly gathering words. “What did you decide?”

“That not only do we want to share a PA, we also want to share a woman.”

I’m teasing from my brand new FREE read, Desire Protected.

❤ ❤ ❤

In this tease, you’ll find the opening scene.

Enjoy!

Nadia swept through her kitchen. She long ago stopped feeling guilty about all the money Ethan had poured into it. The room was simply a dream. Too bad the reason behind her new kitchen was a nightmare. A man had almost died where she was standing. Shivering all over, she scurried over the spot to the fridge to grab the yogurt and milk.

The only thing better was Ethan’s kitchen at his place. If they ever actually got married, it would be hers as well. Until then, this kitchen would do just fine. She skimmed her fingers over the sparkle in the light granite and admired the deep sink on her way to the island. After tossing a banana and a cup of blueberries in her blender along with the yogurt and milk, she set it all to whirl.

“Good morning, beautiful.” Ethan strolled in, wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her cheek.

She stopped the blender. “Good morning, sweetheart. You’re looking fine today.” Maybe she should ask him about their wedding plans, their nonexistent plans. She wanted nothing elaborate but she wanted to plan it with him.

“You’re looking good enough to eat.” He swept her hair from her shoulder and sucked on her neck.

The warm moist heat of his mouth and his firm hand rubbing her ass had her forgetting entirely what she was doing. “It’s good I don’t work for you anymore.”

“We’d never get anything done.” He let her go and turned to the shelf behind them, probably to fetch a coffee mug.

She rubbed her forehead and focused on the blender in front of her. “What was I doing? Oh right, smoothies.” She pulled her to-go cups from the shelves. “I made enough for you this morning.”

“No more stealing from you. Well then,” he smacked her ass, “I will have to find something else to steal.”

She turned and wrapped her arms around him. “You’ve got my attention.”

“I could push my morning meetings back.” He lifted the edge of her skirt.

“I shouldn’t.” She leaned into him. “Today is Sam’s first full day and he’s meeting me at my office.” She moaned as she kissed his chin. Sam was her first security hire since stepping into her new job as Human Resources Manager for Aidan Clery. He was an assassin just like Ethan but the boys had it all worked out. Their business didn’t touch Nadia. The office where she and the general staff worked was separate from his security office. Her staff knew the bare minimum about his clients. It was a don’t ask, don’t tell situation, making it the perfect arrangement.

“Can’t Aidan handle it?” He reached between her legs and stroked her panties. “It’s been too long since we went AWOL.” He sucked on her earlobe.

“I know. That reminds me.” She tugged on his chin. “You promised to take me dancing.”

“Yes.” He nipped her bottom lip. “Same club where I found you playing hooky?”

“Oh yeah.” All thoughts regarding her responsibilities flew out the window. He’d lit a fuse within her. Now, she’d probably think of nothing but him all day.

His phone buzzed signaling a new text message, taking them out of the moment. After a quick check of his phone, he stepped back. “I need to deal with this.” He kissed her sweetly, and then walked out of the kitchen. He put his phone to his ear and said, “You want me to do what?”

She tried not to think about what Ethan did for a living. His work was important and so damn dangerous. It helped to think about the people he saved from horrendous situations. His last client had lived through countless death threats and repeated beatings from her husband. Luckily, they no longer had to worry about that in the future. The abuser was long gone from this world, he may not have died in her kitchen but he did shortly after, and the client was alive and healing.

Nadia poured the smoothie into the cups and set about cleaning up her mess.

“I have to go.” Ethan shuffled into the kitchen. His gaze bounced from one place to another. She couldn’t remember ever seeing him so unnerved. “I’ll call you later.”

“Okay.” She knew better than to push him for information. Questions about their wedding would have to wait too. There was always a reason to put it off. She put her full concentration into wiping the counter.

He caressed her cheek. “How about I take you out to dinner tonight?”

“That sounds nice.” She rubbed his hand and let him go.

About the book

~Editor’s Pick~

epeditorsesal1s

For the first time in her life, Vivian Duffy is pushing herself to the limits of her abilities. With people dying in her city she seems to be the only one willing to dig for the answers when the evidence isn’t making any sense. But when her sister fits the profile of the killer’s victims, Viv knows she may need to make some hard choices.

Jason has walked the Earth for more years than he cares to remember. Always with the singular goal of ensuring the safety of all the humans around him. Meeting the woman who was meant to be his was never even a consideration for him, not until Vivian crosses paths with him at the scene of a murder.

The danger is growing around them, and with the fate of his woman on the line this Argonaut will do whatever is needed to keep her protected.

This is a previously published work. It has been revised and edited for Evernight Publishing

Excerpt – G Rated –

Dropping his carry-on at his feet, Jason stretched his arms over his head. The flight into Seattle had been damn long. They’d had to make an impromptu landing when one of the passengers had gotten out of hand. Then there was a wait while the local police had pried him and his pissed off wife from the plane.

There’d been further delay when a storm had blown in, leaving them sitting on a runway for another three hours. Finally, they’d made it into the air during a break in the squall and were back on their way.

It had been a very long day in the air and on the ground. He was where he needed to be, though. Now all he had to do was find James so they could get their behinds moving. Which, knowing the cowboy as he did, the other man would likely be in the nearest bar. Grabbing his bag, he scoped out the area and spotted the one that would call to the Wild West gunman.

Too easy. Rolling his eyes, Jason slung the duffel over his shoulder and made his way to the tavern. Inside, he spotted James easily. The man was holding court with a gaggle of women, who were all drooling over his authentic accent. Why Mercury had thought putting the two of them together on a mission was a good idea, he’d never figure out.

Reaching the table, he dropped his luggage again. “James.”

“Jason!” James popped to his feet and came around to hug Jason, pounding his back. “Good of you to join us. Ladies, this is Jason. Jase, these are the ladies. They’ve been keeping me company while I waited for your flight. I heard ya’ll had a bit of trouble, got stuck through a bit of a storm. Bad luck, that.”

“Yeah, to say the least.” Jason gave a slight bow to the women. “Which means we really should get going, James. We have a job to do, and I’m sure you’ve had more than your fair share of drinking already today.”

“Right, true enough,” James said with a nod. “Sorry, ladies, but the man has a point. So, if ya’ll want to give me your numbers, I’ll call each and every one of ya’ll as soon as I can.” He leaned over and grinned at a blonde. “Especially you, sugar.” He handed off his phone and collected from all six.

When he had gotten his cell back, plus a few kisses, they paid his tab and went to collect the rental car. Passing James the folder from Mercury, Jason settled behind the wheel and got them moving.

“Shit, this here’s rather thin,” James said.

“I know. There’s not a lot to go on. A few really old cases that may or may not be related, and then the two newest ones. I don’t have a clue if this is anything more than a wild goose chase.”

“Damn,” James breathed. “Well, I guess all we can really do is check them out and see if it was human killings, or if it was more. Really wish these assholes would leave us calling cards. Be so much easier in the long run.”

“Yeah, just what we need. The evil ones leaving calling cards at their murders. Then we’d have the feds on each of the cases, looking for a serial killer that apparently hops from one end of the country to the other and back again. Somehow, I don’t see that as something that would work out well for us.”

“No, I guess not,” James muttered. “So, which one do we want to look at first?”

“Given where we are, we’ll look at the scene that was out north of Jefferson Park Golf Club. It’s the closest,” Jason answered. “After that, we’ll head to the one that happened in the Lower Queen Anne district. I doubt there will be much left after all this time, but you never know.” They could get lucky, though he didn’t hold out much hope for that. It hadn’t done him a lot of good over the years.

Twenty minutes later, they were studying the scene a block north and slightly east of the golf club. As he’d surmised, there wasn’t a lot left beyond some scraggly pieces of police tape and stains on the concrete.

But Jason wasn’t really interested in the scene itself. It was what was around that counted. Moving to where the body had been found, he turned his back. He wanted to know what the victim, a young woman by the name of Katy, had seen in her last moments.

It wasn’t a horrible area, not by a long shot. A little wear and tear, but nothing that jumped out and screamed “worst neighborhood on the planet.” There was some graffiti, but again, nothing that stated they were in gang territory, or a place most folks wouldn’t enter in the middle of the afternoon, let alone after dark.

For all intents and purposes, it was an average area, in an average American city, with nothing to make it stand out. Except for one thing. “We need to get Helen to pull the video feed from the night of the murder.”

“Wouldn’t the police have done that already?” James asked him.

“Possibly, likely even,” Jason said. “They’re not us, though, and they may not see what we will. Most humans don’t want to acknowledge the strange and unusual. Their minds automatically cover it up, and they play it off as a trick of the light, a shadow, or something else that allows them to sleep at night.”

“Good point.” His partner nodded. “Well, we might as well head to the next scene. Maybe there will be video around there, too.”

Jason was hoping so on the drive into Lower Queen Anne. They needed a break on the case, if there really was one. Reaching the corner of West Republican Street and Second Avenue, they found a parking spot. Jason climbed out of the SUV and looked around. Apparently, luck was on their side this time. “We have cameras,” he announced.

James nodded. “So I see. I’ll call Helen and get her to do her thing. Be nice to know if we’re just dealing with a regular old killer or a monster. Not that a regular killer is all that great, but it’s a hell of a lot better than the alternative.”

While James made the call back to the Mountain, Jason headed for the alley between buildings, where the murder had occurred. Ten feet in, he stopped. The police tape that remained was in slightly better condition than at the last spot. Turning, he gazed up at the buildings on each side.

A lot of windows, but given what was in each building and the time of night the young man, Vern, had been killed, there wouldn’t have been witnesses. Unfortunately, he didn’t think the video would be all that helpful, either, given where the cameras were located.

Walking back out to the street, he headed for the truck and James. The cowboy was off the phone and lounging back against the bumper, checking out women as they went past.

“Tell me you’re not checking out women on the street?”

“All right, I’ll tell you I’m not checking out women on the street,” James answered. “Even though they are damn fine.” He nodded to another one, receiving a smile in return.

“Anyone ever mention you are—what is that quaint saying? Ah yes … you are a dog,” Jason said.

“Woof.” James grinned at him. “We done here?”

“Yes, there’s nothing to see. We’ll need to hope we get some video. Did you contact Helen?”

“She’ll be pulling it as soon as she can. She said she had to find it first but will call as soon as she has something for us.”

“Good,” Jason said. “We might as well go to our hotel. I doubt we’ll get anything from her today, and I’m starving. They didn’t even have those little pouches of peanuts on the flight.”

“That’s because everyone’s all paranoid by the rise in allergies. They ditched the peanuts off flights, banned peanut butter from schools, and are coddling everyone. Too many people have turned into pansies. It’s deplorable,” James muttered with a sneer.

Jason wasn’t about to argue with him. Climbing into the truck, he put it in gear and got them moving toward their hotel. Food, a shower, and then sleep. In that order.

Desire Protected Teaser 3

Excerpt:

Coming here had been stupid. If she left quickly, Ethan would never know she’d been there.

A step inside and she knew she’d made the wrong decision.

Ethan stood and came at her. “What are you doing here?”

“Ah.” She pushed the door closed behind her and stayed put. “I’m ah…”

“How did you get in here?”

“I took a cab. You’re busy. I’ll just get back in a cab and go home.” She turned around.

He stepped in behind her and placed his hand on the door above her head. “Don’t make another move.” He kicked her feet apart and pressed his body to hers.

She stared at the door. An ache rushed from her chest to the back of her throat, and then she heard a tiny little click.

He pulled her hair back and brought his lips to her ear. “They can still see us but our voices are blocked for thirty seconds.”

She had no idea what to say to him. Many times they discussed how dangerous it would be for her to get caught up in his business. “I’m sorry.” What a pathetic thing to say. She knew better.

“You followed me here?”

“I did.” Her stupid jealousy had gotten her here. She felt like a child. Maybe she should be punished like one. She tapped her head on the door.

“We’ll have a long talk about this when we get home.”

“I understand, Sir.” Her voice came out crackly.

“How did you find my room?”

“I may have told this second blonde woman I just started working here.” She wanted to crawl under the table.

“You did what?” His tone had gotten awfully low. “What do you mean second blonde?”

“Shit.” She tapped her head on the door again. Then she remembered the cameras. “I’m supposed to be in here making you happy.”

“You’ve failed.”

“Hey!” She turned around and he plastered himself to her.

“You have no idea the kind of danger you’re in this very minute.”

“From you? Yeah, I have an idea.”

“I’m the least of your worries. I’m working tonight.”

She sucked in a deep breath. Her heartbeat raced. “I’m so sorry.” Not only had she betrayed her promise to Ethan, but she’d put both their lives in danger.

He put his hand around her throat and squeezed. “Shhh.” He stroked along the back of her neck. His touch may have been gentle but his palm pushed her head back, bringing her gaze to his. “Follow my lead and I’ll get you out of here, but first I will make good use of our time.” His beautiful hazel eyes turned dark as night.

“Okay.” She trusted him and believed with her whole heart he’d get her out of this situation. A tiny click signaled the end to their privacy.

“Are you sure about that?” He hauled her back to the couch where he’d been sitting and pulled her over his lap.

“What are you doing?” She kicked her legs.

“You need to make me happy, wouldn’t want you getting fired on your first day.” He flipped up her skirt and yanked down her panties.

Authors in Bloom Blog Hop with S.J. Maylee #gardeningtips #romance

Dianne Venetta_AIB Logo_2015Welcome to the Authors in Bloom Blog Hop!

Gardening is one of my favorite things. Bright cheery flowers simply make me happy. From every window in my house, there’s a lovely view of one of my many gardens. I could talk about this topic all day. 😀

Keep reading for my gardening tips, coming soon news, my giveaway, AND how to enter for your chance to win the fab GRAND PRIZE!

photo 1

Here are six of my general gardening tips:

  1. Plant for all the seasons. I’m in Michigan and many of my favorite flowers bloom only certain times of the year, but I keep this in mind when planning my gardens. This way, there’s always something blooming. Some of my favorites in the spring include Creeping Phlox, Pansies, and Tulips.
  2. Feed the veggies and the flowers. We function best when we have all our vitamins and so do our friends in the garden. It makes such a difference. Follow the directions on the product of your choice and keep feeding throughout the season as directed. You’ll definitely lengthen your time with those pretties.
  3. Prune. Don’t forget to cut back spent blooms. Not only does it keep your flowers looking fresh, but it gives space to the youngins to get the sun, water, and food they need.
  4. Plant a variety of flowers. Different size, shape, and color can add variety to your beds.
  5. Add pops of color to your deck and or porch with annual flowers. I’ve got my pots down to a method: something tall, something mid-height, and something to hang low. 🙂 If you can find different flowers of the same color, it can really look pretty in the pots.
  6. If you have a vegetable garden, I highly recommend a little fence to keep the critters out. I also recommend using a garden fabric. The soil around your vegetables will be highly fertile for pesky weeds. The weed barrier may be time consuming to lay down, BUT it will save you countless hours of weeding throughout the summer.

Excerpt from book 1, Desire Unexpected:

“It reminded me of you.” He shook his head. “It’s just from the museum gift shop. I wanted to give you something for putting up with me. I hope you like it.”

“Thank you.” She took the little box and sat on her battered sofa. “Please, take a seat.”

He sat next to her, but kept to the edge, confirming there was nothing relaxed about this visit.

After slipping the green ribbon from the box, she pulled off the lid and pushed back the tissue paper, revealing the item she’d so long desired. Her heart raced and she scooted closer to him. He had no idea what he’d done. Her secret crush giving her the piece of jewelry she’d long desired was incredibly perfect. Neither were really her style and she wanted them all the same. She looked at him with heavy tears stinging her eyes. Brushing the box from her lap, she slipped the bracelet onto her wrist.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. I’ve enjoyed our time together.” He brushed away the tear that had rolled down her cheek and cupped her chin.

“Don’t say that like it’s over.” She took a hold of his wrist and pulled it into her lap. “It’s not, right?” Panic raced over her. If he wanted to leave, she wouldn’t stop him, but her whole body hurt with wanting him to stay.

“I’m no good for you, Nadia.” He took hold of her hands. “You deserve a nice man with an uncomplicated life. I can’t give you what you need.”

“That’s not true.” She put her fingers to his lips. “Don’t.”

He took a hold of her shirt, not pulling her closer, just squeezing the fabric in his fist.

“I don’t know what’s going on with you.” She brought her touch back to his hands, trying to ease the pressure. “I just know the only time I feel alive is when I’m with you. You’re on my mind constantly.” She lowered her gaze, losing her courage by the second. “There’s something between us and I want to explore it. I want to know what drives you insane with need. Don’t you want me too?”

“Shit, Nadia, I haven’t stopped thinking about you since the first day at the windows.” He let her go and pulled out of her reach to slip around to the other side of the couch with his back to her. “I want things from you that I’m certain would frighten you.”

“I doubt that.” Knowing she had to make her move now or risk losing him forever, she pulled her shirt over her head and tugged off her sweatpants, tossing them both on the chair. “Do you remember the questions I asked about you before we met?”

“You’re playing with fire.”

“No, I’m not into fire play, but I have a feeling you know what I need.”

“What …” He turned, his gaze swept over her body and he brushed his hand over his mouth. “You take my breath away.” He stepped toward her, adjusting the bulge in his pants. “You think you want to play?”

“I do.” She sucked on her lip, wishing she’d worn her one set of matching bra and panties.

“Fuck, I want this” He brushed her skin ever so slightly up her arms, across her chest, and down between her breasts. “I’ve had dreams about this moment.” He raised her chin, forcing her to look at him. He dragged his fingers through her hair and tugged the length of it back. “I want you at my mercy. Do you have any idea what it’s like to give someone like me control?”

“Yes, sir.” She arched her back, revealing her neck. He kept pulling and tingles of pain danced along her scalp. “Please.”

“Are you already asking for mercy?” He tugged her hair again “I don’t think you know what you’re starting.”

“I don’t want you to stop. I want more, sir.” Her breasts pushed against his chest and her grip on his arms tightened. “I want to know.”

Mid Week Tease “Why don’t you touch me?” A snippet from Desire Unexpected, Assassins and Sweethearts 1

click to see SJ's Mid Week TeasesHappy Hump Day!

Soon I’ll be teasing from Assassins and Sweethearts 1.5 in preparation for its release. 😀

Today, let’s take a look at some of the trouble Ethan had with Nadia in Desire Unexpected, Assassins and Sweethearts 1

In this tease, Nadia is ready to push against the rules Ethan has put in place. Let’s see if he pushes back.

Enjoy!

She stopped her empty mail cart at the coffee station and looked over her shoulder, certain she’d seen Ethan step behind her. I’m losing it. She shook it off and grabbed her mug from the bottom shelf of her cart. She stood abruptly, this time certain she’d heard something. “Who’s calling my name?”

“I am. Would you come over here, please?”

She turned around and found Ethan standing just inside the janitor’s closet. Leaving her mug, she skipped over. “Does your secretary know where you are?”

“No.” He pulled her in and closed the door. “An out-of-town meeting came up. I’m afraid I’ll have to cancel our lunch date for today and the next few days.”

“Oh, that’s okay.” She looked past him to the stacks of paper towel.

“You’re disappointed. I’m sorry.” He stepped closer to her and she stepped back, keeping the distance. “I’ll make it up to you. I promise.”

“You don’t have to say that.” She pressed her lips together, wishing she could take back the lie. She wanted much more from him than that. Right now in this tiny room, she wanted him to wrap his arms around her and tell her he’d miss her, confess what she meant to him. “That’s not the deal we made.” She fought her desire to change all the rules.

“I know, but I want to. I’ll call when I’m back in town.” His gaze seemed to linger on her lips. Maybe he wanted to change the rules too.

“I’d like that.” She straightened her spine and took a step toward him, eliminating the empty space. He hadn’t opened the door by much, but she wanted to throw it open. “Why don’t you touch me?”

“I touch you all the time.” He angled his head, allowing her to come a little closer.

“Not really,” she whispered. Her focus zeroed in on his luscious mouth. She was certain if she reached out her tongue, she could drag it across his lips. The heat coming from his body and his divine manly scent called her forward. Her heart beat like a wild thing, awakening her pussy and her growing need for more. “You don’t really touch me.”

He took a step toward her and she stumbled back a step, finding the door. His hard body pushed her flat while he raised his arms to brace himself around her. “I’m beginning not to trust myself when I’m around you.” He brushed his nose along hers and his hard cock pressed against her belly. “You’re one giant temptation. I should have known better than to indulge my curiosity.”

“Do you want me to leave you alone?” She breathed a heavy sign, not wanting this moment to end, and feared she’d never get closer.

The sound of a phone ringing filled the small space and he stilled. “I’ll call when I’m back. We’ll figure it out.”
