What I find most intriguing about the 3 titles you mentioned is the initial power dynamic. It leaves so much room in the story/series for characters to grow/change and the dynamic to shift. It’s always interesting to see how the story and characters develop from that starting place.

I think that the first books in a series always leave the reader wanting more. They want more of the main characters and more of the supporting characters.
