I have a new guest for you today, Casey Moss. She’s is fellow Evernight Publishing author and a participant in the Mid Week Tease. I love her teases. So, when her latest book released, I jumped at the chance to have her here. I had her answer a couple questions so we can get to know her better.

Welcome, Casey! I’m so glad you’re here. I want you comfortable. So, let’s start with you picturing your favorite place in the world. Now, can you tell us a little bit about the place you’ve pictured?

I love the beach. Any beach really from the white sand, turquoise waters, palm trees swaying in a gentle breeze ones to the feisty northern pacific coast beaches with the chilling breezes, rocky coves and deep blue waters. Yet somehow I ended up living in the desert.

Lol, I love the beach too. The moving water always calms my nerves. Tell us about yourself: Who are you and why did you start writing? Also, when did you first consider yourself a writer?

Currently a resident of the hot, high desert in the southwest, I knew I wanted to write at a young age, as early as I learned to read, cooking up stories to entertain myself in the rural area I had lived in. But I took a roundabout way to settle down as a fiction writer, having worked in the corporate and real estate realms writing newspaper articles, press releases, corporate newsletters, etc. Now that I’m settled in the desert, I’ve returned to my first love: creative writing.

I received “the calling” to be a writer in the sixth grade, though I had been writing earlier than that and always had a sense that’s what I’d do when I grew up. Back in middle school, I remember getting an A on an English project and that’s when my inner voice/sixth sense said I would definitely write for a living.

I’ve been studying the craft of writing since my early teens. It started with working on the school newspaper in middle school to creative writing classes and Teens Art Festivals in high school. I received my BA in Communications, Information and Library Studies from Rutgers College with a strong concentration in English Lit/Writing and Interpersonal Communications/PR. Studying under the mentorship of Terri Valentine (author of ‘Sands of Time,’ a Zebra Historical Romance), I honed my novel writing skills. Now I find myself taking the occasional online class and devouring all the writing how-to books I can get my hands on.

What do you do when you’re not Writing:

When I’m not working at my computer cooking up another tale, I can be found hanging out with my husband and cat, reading a book, chillin’ in front of the TV, or working on a craft project. I’ve also been known to play WOW and other computer games.

Describe your writing space.

I have a room in the house that’s dedicated for me. I have a huge desk with cubby holes, cabinets and a drawer. My monitor and screen is on it and the computer tower is on a tall shelving unit on the left of the desk. On the right side of the desk, there’s a bookcase on top of a two drawer filing cabinet. Behind me, I have a fouton couch that I’ll crash out on if it’s late at night (or in the early morning) and I’ve been writing and don’t want to disturb hubby by crawling into bed and having the cat announce my presence. Hell, I’ll even crash on the couch during the day if I need a nap. I have a second monitor that doubles as my television on the filing cabinet to my right. There’s a Queen Anne table which functions as an altar and houses my incense and candles to my left. Let’s not forget my closet that’s full of craft material, my print books I use for signings/sales, and yarn…lots and lots of yarn…for when I get in the mood to crochet. Print outs of some of my book covers are framed and hanging on the walls as are my college degree and writing courses certificates. Oh, and I have a three drawer plastic container tower which has a bunch of books in it. More books fill the bookcase and line the top of my desk.

Now that sounds like a place I could get comfortable in. 🙂 Which one of your characters would you most like to meet in real life?

As far as a male character goes, I’d love to meet JT. He makes a brief appearance in Open World and will be one of the main protagonists in the next C.O.V.E.N. book. When it comes to female characters, I’d like to meet Cassandra. She’s in Open World and will be one of the main protagonists in the book after JT’s.

What is your favorite music (genre/artist/album/song)?

My favorite music group is Rush. As for listening to music when I write, I’ll listen to spa music, alternative or country.

Rush! Wahoo. I thought I was the only girl who enjoyed them, lol. Tell us a bit about the projects you’re working on now?

I’m working on the next books in the C.O.V.E.N. world. So far there are four more planned for after Open World. I have a long story arc weaving through all the stories along with whatever the characters are experiencing in the game & 3D worlds in each book.

Speaking of Open World, here’s the book information…

The world of C.O.V.E.N. (Clans of Vegas – Endless Night) first appeared in Evernight Publishing’s anthology Keyboards & Kink (available here: http://www.evernightpublishing.com/keyboards-and-kink/ & at other fine e-tailers) in Casey’s story, AFK.

In AFK, we saw a peek into I-D-8 Entertainment’s in-production MMORPG: Clans of Vegas – Endless Night, also known as C.O.V.E.N. when Beth and another gamer got sucked into the game for real.

Now, when it comes to Open World, it’s actually made up of parts from two novellas that had been previously published. Those stories were my very first published ones released in 2008 under my alter ego’s name. A few years ago, I received the rights back on them, and they sat in a file until this year. There’s been some major work done to revamp them from a sci-fi’ish plot to the computer gaming one present in the book today. I am so excited these stories, and more to come in the C.O.V.E.N. world, have found new life and a great new home with Evernight Publishing.

In the story, Open World, some of the employees of I-D-8 have joined together for a LAN party to test the game. For definitions on the computer gaming term: open world, check out http://www.techopedia.com/definition/3952/sandbox-gaming).

The world has broken out in wars. Las Vegas has been ravaged by chemical warfare and is now home to several clans and creatures.

Welcome to I-D-8 Entertainment’s newest game: Clans of Vegas—Endless Night.

Friends and family have gathered for a crunch time playtest of C.O.V.E.N.. When a horrible thunderstorm hits, everyone’s sucked into the game for real. In the MMORPG, Hope Collins is kidnapped by Buzz and forced to submit to his whims. Her boyfriend, Alden, has to delay his quest of defeating a clan’s prince to save her, but time and circumstance don’t seem to be on his side. Faith Collins is bombarded by strange dreams brought on by Buzz. Her boyfriend, Tavis, learns to dream walk, but can he help break the spell she’s under and save her before she’s lost to him?

C.O.V.E.N. is more than just a game. It’s a whole other world.

Excerpt

“You’re right. But you don’t know how much I want you right now. I want to feel you against me, your hot slick body sliding against mine.” To bring the point home, she stepped forward and laid her hand on the bulge in his pants. Just as she expected, it was hard.

He detached her hand from him and held it. “You know we can’t do anything right now. Not with the LAN party about to get underway.”

Hope frowned and batted her eyelashes. “Can’t I have even a little kiss?”

As she desired, Den yanked her against his body, cupping a breast in his hand, and claimed her mouth. With a happy sigh, she relaxed and molded into him. His mouth sensuously moved upon hers and, when it parted, she followed suit, allowing his tongue access to search and conquer. Hungrily, wanting him more than ever, she matched his movements, undoing his ponytail and running her fingers through his long, soft hair, reveling in its silkiness. She moved her hand down to the front of his pants where she’d been before. Again she cradled him and massaged his cock through his shorts. His tongue delved deeper into her mouth. His fingers tweaked the growing nipple beneath her shirt and bra.

Happiness, combined with a feeling of forbidden pleasure, created a stormy sea of sensation within her. She was lost and found in his kiss. With him she truly believed she was safe, secure…cherished. When he pulled away and looked down upon her, she knew she had found her prince charming, her proverbial knight in shining armor.

Den clasped her in his arms. She nuzzled her cheek along his chest again and, as she gazed upon the community’s pool area, movement caught her attention. She could have sworn she saw Mr. Jenkins duck behind the corner of the building.
