Welcome friends old and new. I’m glad you came. Today, I’m sharing from my debut, TAKING CHANCES.
In Previous Weeks: Jake and Lydia entered the room where they’ll be working together. They’ve shared a few heated moments. LAST WEEK: Lydia reeled from her bold move. THIS WEEK: I’ve skipped just a little bit. Jake has gotten back to work. Let’s see how Lydia’s doing.
The moment dissipated like it had never been. His hand no longer reached for her. His look no longer promised unmentionable things. He ducked his chin to concentrate on something on the table. Then he was back into work like nothing happened. Disappointment dug in and left her feeling unwanted. She brushed her hair behind her shoulders and attempted to shake the familiar ugliness.
She followed his example, though, and dragged her attention back to simpler things, like lunch.
The moment dissipated, but it’s definitely not forgotten <~ You can <tweet that> if you want. So, do you think they’re back to all work and no more heat? Come back next week and find out OR find those buy links below and find out today. 🙂

BLURB:
Lydia’s father walked away from her when she was eight. She’s struggled to not let him affect her, but fears she wasn’t loveable enough to make him stay. Jake wants to
love one woman, but after scaring the last woman he met outside of the club, he doubts he has the right. She protects her heart by sticking with her fantasies, and he lives by a set of rules that excludes women who choose a vanilla lifestyle.
The two will be kept in a conference room working together until their special project is complete. If Lydia and Jake hold tight to their bland lives, they’ll always yearn for love that is out of reach. But together they can find common ground, passion, and a reason to take chances. Once they discover the grand possibilities of the love they desire, they find themselves in the very place they tried never to be again, facing unguaranteed love.

Great emotion between them. I know from reading the book they just couldn’t stay away from each other.
Very good! l think they’ll try to stay away from each other, but it won’t work.
you’ve captured her feelings really well in this. the let down and disappointment since she thinks he’s done with her. great 8
Great use of the 8’s in helping me feel along with her. Well done!
I think he stripped the gears on that shift. Great snippet, it really makes me want to find out how long they can stay focused on work.
Oh, you’ve captured her disappointment well.
Darn it, he just accidentally fed her self-esteem issues. I know he doesn’t know she has them, but he’d still better make it up to her, later!
Oh, this little eight made me sad…I think most everyone’s felt like that and you make it so relatable.
Great snippet. I feel her disappointment very keenly. Good job! 🙂 psst … I’d probably toss my lunch at him to get his attention – but that’s just me 🙂
Wow, he turned off on a dime. I could totally relate to your heroine’s disappointment. Excellent excerpt (and somehow I’m sure he’ll regain his interest later LOL).
Ouch. Poor Lydia. You capture her disappointment really well.
Aww, great emotion in this snippet 🙂
Emotional snippet. I think Lydia needs a hug. lol
God, they’re just torturing each other! 🙂 I’d be confused as all hell if I was her. Great tension SJ.
History Sleuth’s Milk Carton Murders
Great way of showing emotions — his as well as he tries to hide his reactions to what happened.
Aw, dang it! …They’ll get other chances, I’m sure. Though it sounds like he’ll have to reach through some self-esteem issues she has.
Ouch the sting of rejection – even though I’m sure she misread him…it doesn’t ease the sting at all. Poor Lydia.
